How Are Atheists Buried or do funerals?

I would prefer to be cremated. Why would someone want their body disrespected just because they dont believe in God? It's simply a matter of decency. I also don't shit on my carpets or throw my garbage in my living room. Believe it or not, I didn't need religion to tell me that is not right. Just common sense.

Also funerals aren't some stupid religious ceremony for atheists. It's about friends and family getting together to celebrate your life and memories one last time. Then having your corpse disposed of in a sanitary way. Not sure what is hard to understand about that.

It's really no different than when a family pet dies. Do you dispose of the corpse in a respectful way, or do you just throw the body out in the backyard and let mice and crows pick at it? It's about being respectful to the memory of the person or animal. I'm pretty sure your dog never attended church or prayed to lord jesus, but most people arent going to throw the body out in a bag full of dirty diapers.

My father died when I was a baby, and his grave site was a rather sad place for me. I don't need my kid to go through that. I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered at Waikiki beach. This way my kid can make a vacation out out of it instead of kneeling at a grave and feeling sad.

Atheists don't think that there is a soul in the body that goes to a place to be with god or devil once a person dies. So therefor we sorta beleive that the body is all that's left once we breath no more. Our energy goes back to where we borrowed it from.

+1 here. Unless you subscribe to one of the few religions who think your pets are going to heaven. NOT CHRISTIANS BTW!!! (and then what separates your pets from the cows you eat, do you have to look at your dinner in heaven looking back at you for eternity?)

I am an aheist and I have always treated my pets with repsect when they passed away. Had ceremonies etc.... Out of love and respect....
