funerals don't have to be a religious ritual, they can be a farewell ritual or a remembrance ritual

You simply celebrate their life at their funeral, not need to get religious.

My father died when I was a baby, and his grave site was a rather sad place for me. I don't need my kid to go through that. I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered at Waikiki beach. This way my kid can make a vacation out out of it instead of kneeling at a grave and feeling sad.

I always think cremation, but it might be greener to return my nutrients to the ground - I am sure I have heard of green funerals where they use cardboard coffins and bury you in a forest - Something like that would be nice.....

Atheists don't think that there is a soul in the body that goes to a place to be with god or devil once a person dies. So therefor we sorta beleive that the body is all that's left once we breath no more. Our energy goes back to where we borrowed it from.

I am an aheist and I have always treated my pets with repsect when they passed away. Had ceremonies etc.... Out of love and respect....
