Just worked an 8 hour shift and was told I could not have a break. The night manager fucked something up and my hours didn't show up when I punched out.

My back was hurting so bad I almost fell out on my shift.

I talked to the manager after my shift and told her I would work the hours she had scheduled through the week but that I wanted only 3 days a week from then on and she freaked out.

Everyone that works there hates it and says they only took the job because no one was hiring.

I guess I will just work my 3 days a week and keep looking for something else.

oppoten 04-11-2014 06:45 PM

I hope it all works out for you :)

Indiana

I think the manager was implying that she would give us breaks but didn't want to. I could have demanded a break but didn't.

We also don't get 10 minute paid breaks every 3 hours like they do in Kentucky.

OneHungLo 04-11-2014 07:52 PM

You've only been working there how long and you're already complaining?

Most people that are down and out are there for a reason. They always have an excuse.

TheSquealer 04-11-2014 08:04 PM

Fucking pussy. This world is falling apart. Welcome to the future... A nation ran by pathetic pussies who can't work 8 hrs to support their families without whining and complaining.

Wow.

Just .... wow.

Pretty obvious why you can't make money online. It actually takes a lot of hard work, long hours and is frustrating. You can't even wash lettuce for 8 hrs.

good idea. mcdonalds is a slum. in fact all fast food jobs are the worst value relative to work. If your gonna make under 10 bucks an hour work at a mall. half the time you'll just stand around & you get out by 10pm most months.

best job for a low wage is lifeguarding. get paid to look at bikinis all day long.

you are such an enigma. you have very bright & inciteful comments on some matters. then you pull out this garbage.

his comments about not getting breaks has merit. If IN has a law requiring breaks he should get them. That more true when he is new & his body is not used to standing 8 straight hours. Not everyone is in shape for standing all day if you been couchlocked on unemployment.

& if everyone hates the job, thats because management blows. the things he describes suggest he has shit leadership, so it would be no suprise everyone hates the place.

your problem sounds like you have high expectations that you may meet for yourself but when others dont live like you, you shit on them. you'd be better off keeping your condescending thoughts to yourself.

Hey Mike,

Just save some cash and try to move to a area that is hiring, do it for a few months and save up to move, if you can, best of luck bro

It's simple. If things are so bad that as a grown man, you need to take a job at a fast food restaurant... then you do what it takes. Period. You don't blame others. You don't complain. You don't bitch and whine. You don't make a move for pity saying your back hurt so bad from wiping mayonnaise on bread that you have to cut your hours in half.

That is pure bullshit. Most people that hate their minimum wage jobs have an attitude that is the reason they have a minimum wage job to begin with. You're not supposed to love it. It's a means to an end. It's a stepping stone.... not a career and I've employed enough people to know that if someone isn't happy and they are complaining, you fire them immediately before their cancerous attitude ruins everyone. Doesn't take too many rounds of that before you have a great crew, doing their jobs and enjoying the people they do it with.

Again... you do what it takes. Period. You don't whine and bitch and moan and complain. It's not about how "i live". Its about the simple fact that you can't move forward in life with a bad attitude and a bad attitude towards hard work and sacrifice or by blaming managers as if somehow a manager is making mopping the bathroom floor and cooking fries unbearable where otherwise, it is perfectly pleasant.

The thing is... hardworking people that do what it takes, that bust their ass, that make every sacrifice and never stop working towards their goals end up supporting those who just whine and complain.... no matter what their income level. It hurts every single person in society.

CyberHustler 04-11-2014 11:37 PM

Actually I am on the grill which is one of the hardest jobs there. Everything revolves around me. If I don't get the meat up I slow the whole process down. The grill guy also runs the fryer at night and does much of the food prep for the next shift. Pretty much everyone in the back works two positions at night and it's just as busy.

Remember that I have U.C. This means I have chronic fatigue and chronic joint pain in addition to diarrhea. I keep my bathroom runs under control by not eating 6-8 hours before my shift or at any time during my shift. This mean at the end of work I may have gone over 16 hours without anything to eat. On work days all my food must be taken in during a 6 hour period.

mikesinner 04-13-2014 02:45 PM

I also have noticed that I must be getting deaf because I cannot hear when other crew members are telling me to do things when they are just 10 feet away. It doesn't help when I tell some kid to speak up when asking me something and they still continue to mumble.

Soft female voices are especially hard for me to hear.

Uhm.. yeah. I get it. "One of the hardest jobs" at a fast food restaurant paying minimum wage... where you want to cut your hrs worked back to a few days a week and you have nothing but an endless litany of excuses as to why everything is difficult. Get over yourself and get your fucking life together.

Anyone who has been online for more than a few weeks can create a thread on this forum for webmaster work and writing and have 10 offers that pay better than the $150.00 a week you are going to make after taxes by working 3 days a week... but somehow you want everyone to think you're some sort of martyr and hero, rather than a total retard who is content to work for next to nothing and bitch about it every step of the way,... preying on peoples sympathy for no obvious reason other or benefit and as if there are no other alternatives to earning about what the average outsourced Indian makes for data entry.

At the end of it all... you already made it clear. You are a loser and a failure and you even said yourself, that you work shit jobs like this to "motivate" yourself.

You sound more like a self centered, manipulative sociopath wanting pity from the masses for your failures than a hard working person who is genuinely interested in finding a stable income and financial success.

edit... oh you made another followup post for more pity - Plays for pity from others is actually the only consistent feature of sociopathic behavior amongst sociopaths... So cool, you're now deaf. 101 reasons you can't work a minimum wage job to feed yourself. Nice. I look forward to supporting your children and the many years they will spend in prison at tax payers expense.

TheSquealer 04-13-2014 02:52 PM

I'm all for compassion and support... for those who try and want to try. Shit happens and sometimes people need help and support. I get that.

I am absolutely not for caring about or supporting those who have no interest in trying and who find nothing but excuses.

You are essentially announcing to the world that you just can't figure out as an adult male in the United States of America, who works online,... to make more that 150.00 a week or so.

I hope for everyones sake that you are sterile.

Coming from a Russian that dates black chicks...

While I don't have complete sympathy for Mike here, it can be hard to get back into a job like this if your body isn't conditioned for it.
If I had to stand on my feet all day I'd probably loose 15-20 pounds from my upper body, as even muscle can hurt my back over long periods of time. I was a server 5 years ago and at 6'2'' I had to weigh a lean 180 to not feel any back problems over the course of 8 hours. My back may be a little weak but my body is in good health.

Just like Loki, my stripper friends, and Mike in this case... You get off on digging into those who are not as robust. You bitch and nothing will be accomplished, but it's Mike's fault for bringing it up. :)

Granted I don't feel as much sympathy for Mike because I offered him a decent amount of space on a dedicated server with no hangups, he didn't act on it. He still continues to pursue freehosts, at least up until recently anyway.

I've worked double shifts as a welder and doing other jobs, and the time went by fairly quickly. Time goes by very slowly in a McDonalds and I would go nuts working at one for more than a few hours, back when I was 16.

edit: Still like your posts Squealer

Nice_Nick 04-13-2014 03:15 PM

I didn't read all the replys but I agree with TheSquealer.

Fucking quit complaining. You are being paid to do a job. Aww your back hurts quit. Don't wanna quit then do your job.
There are many that would jump to do your minimum wage job.

Breaks should be at discretion. You pull your weight you get a break, you bunk off and try to get by doing as little as possible work through their break.

I suspect you are the latter.

He could have phrased it a little softer, but I can understand the facepalm side of it. You repeatedly solicited advice & feedback on here, then repeatedly ignored the Webmaster 101 stuff people patiently tried to help you with - buy your own domains, don't use free-hosted blog networks if you want any sort of stable income, focus on quality over quantity, the list goes on. Just banging your head against a brick wall.

I mean, Squealer isn't the only one exasperated here: https://gfy.com/showthread.php?p=19981687#post19981687

Then you - as a grown man - for some reason announce to the forum you're taking a job flipping burgers at McDonalds, then start repeatedly complaining about said minimum wage job within a week or two..... what kind of reaction do you expect?

I say this because you seem like a decent honest guy, but take a look in the mirror and maybe consider therapy or something. Sheesh.

TheSquealer 04-13-2014 04:42 PM

I'll say it again since there is confusion. I have nothing but respect for people who want to try. For people who understand they need to do what they have to. I have zero respect for whining, complaining and excuses while fishing for sympathy, rather than advice.

It's all about character.

mopek1 04-13-2014 04:48 PM

Mike I don't like when people kick someone when they are down. I'm sorry you are going through all this.

I would bet you a hundie it would be less than 10 offers. Maybe 0, 1 or 2 at best. For more than few weeks old.
Established forum member like mike - maybe 1-3 offers ?
It would be interested to test, I think you are over positive in this regard. not many people are hiring....

What is so frustrating? I worked there when I was a teen. Had a great time. And I was not being lazy, usually I did twice as much as average fuck. Seriously, the "talent" there was low end... Slow as in slow motion. :1orglaugh
All grown up adults working there were complete losers..
I hear nowadays it is a bot better as due to unemployment even "normal" adults work there.

Well the monotony of it would have to be killer. Id think a job with a little more variety would make the time go by faster. Even if it is just stocking shelves. Standing in one spot flipping burgers for 8 hours would probably drive me insane, unless I was able to drink beer while doing it.

Right. ....

And you've then cleverly reasoned as a next life move, that the best ROI on your time can be found working part time at McDonalds for minimum wage. Because that makes perfect sense.

Do they teach math where you are from or are you just irretrievably stupid?

You set your value as a grown adult in the workforce at $7.50 or so per hour and then came back to announce after a few shifts that you are actually worth far less in the work force than an inxperienced, uneducated, socially retarded high school student.

You don't seem to understand. Everything I am going through can be attributed to the fact that I have a chronic illness that is not being medically treated or dealt with by my family. I am not allowed to apply for medicaid or SSI because of very manipulative people in my family. It's hard for me to leave my living situation without abandoning said family members but they have cut out my social safety net from under me.

So I hope you understand I cannot handle any job that requires actual labor and fully expect to pass out in the coming months if I continue to have to work more than a 6 hour shift.

And most people on this board are not making minimum wage as adult webmasters.

I understand completely.

You lowered the bar for yourself income-wise to almost zero... then you've literally made zero effort to actually work in the business you are in and to search for work here. You've made zero effort to try to find work as a webmaster, as a writer etc etc etc in this very industry. You just insist you can't work at all... yet attempt to work for minimum wage at a job you've made abundantly clear again and again that you can't do.

You could very easily find a job writing text descriptions and submitting videos or writing content or doing basic webmaster work that would earn you the same as working at McDonalds for less than an outsourced Indian or Filipino, which you keep saying again and again that you are incapable of doing.

You are simultaneously telling the world "i can't earn more than 150.00 a week" and "i'm not worth more than 150.00 a week". So of course, your life is going to be paved with food stamps, homeless shelters and soup kitchens. In the meantime there are people on this forum that can't even get out of their wheelchairs that are running circles around you as you throw an online pity party for yourself.

Yeah, I remember that one too. It sounds like there are possibly mental health issues going on here - no shame in that, he wouldn't be the first GFYer who could seriously benefit from therapy....

If you wanted to get fixed, you'd make a lot of phone calls, do something, figure it out. Funny thing in my life is if I set something as an agenda, it gets done.
You've pretty much burned all credibility or sympathy reserves.

Back when I had my first apartment I had a guy, that did not graduate high school, same school same grade move in with me. He had no where to go because his girlfriend's parents had kicked him out of the house for being a bum, he couldn't hold a job... everyone was out to get him.

He got along with me alright because I didn't see him much from working so much. Not long after moving in, I got a phone call from the landlord telling me he was invading peoples' parties and "this weird guy."
I ended up talking to his mom and it sounded like he had a place to stay with her and his sister as well, but he couldn't do it for some reason.
He eventually got the boot. I drove him down to a Wal-Mart supercenter in Peoria, Illinois, handed him a $20 and said "good luck Jake."

Family can get in the way but it's time to look in the mirror.

I offered him 30GB (or some large amount with unlimited bandwidth) of free hosting on a dedicated server to help him out in response to his thread of I Need Someone To Tell Me It's Going To Be OK: http://m.gfy.com/showthread.php?t=1114394&page=1

He was sluggish about even getting back to me, then of course didn't take me up on it.

There's a retired superstar ex-pornographer that use to post here, I host his splash pages for people to contact him. :)

Money is an issue here, my best advice would be exercise (5 mile walks in the park) and other means. Exercise has a lot of benefits, so does getting sun.

deltav even mentioned injecting other peoples' feces and Mike said "that's only a temporary solution" which means to him, why even bother?

No one to blame but yourself Mike, you are a straight up loser.
Do something about it if you want, that is 100% up to you.

I'm thinking Mike, Squeals and a few others could get a group therapy discount.

Or maybe they could all get naked in a sweat lodge while a shaman spanks them with his medicine stick.

:2 cents:

you think he is going to listen to anyone talking complete sense in this thread, when he has proven time and again that he won't listen to anyone, preferring instead to look at the why-nots, why it can't be done's, why this or that will fail, why xyz isn't worth the bother, and so on and so on and so on?

This guy is markham from a different angle, he already knows ALL the answers, and all these advice-seeking posts are 'pander to me' and 'listen to how bad I have it'. You hit the nail on the head mate with pity party, fuck wasting keyboard strokes on that, if you're bored send me an email with an idea or two you've had but never implemented rather than waste time on this guy.

And mike - sorry to sound harsh, but fucking hell, man up. DO something about your shit life that you want everyone to know about. But please don't make that something another whine. We all need help at some stage or other, fuck, I've been there more recently than I'd have liked, and there's no shame in that, but take the previous advice and/or help offered. It's not brain surgery.

Hey Mike, on a serious note I really think that you may have some mental health conditions that treatment could help with. Sign up for the new Obamacare and see if you can get in to speak with someone. It could change your life.

5 years ago, I mentioned in Mike's general direction during a quality versus quantity debate that a single quality paid for site would make just as much $$$ as numerous derelict free hosted blogs and splogs.

Still holds true to this day.

Just a few hours a week focused on one simple affiliate site and you can say goodbye to the Hamburglar.

I think that at the end of he day, I ran away from home when I was 16... I finished school on my own. I worked hard. I learners instantly that life is not "fair" and it's not "unfair" ... it's simply whatever you make it. I personally don't care about a single person begging for attention with his "woe is me" story. What bothers me most is all of the people that jump in an validate self destructive behaviors, horrible attitudes and general laziness as if there is nothing that can be done about it.

Life is what you make it.

You are always the sum total of your will, your determination, your drive and your ambition.

There is nothing wrong with being poor. I have respect for anyone who tries... or anyone that has found happiness in life. I've been through hell in my life and it just made me focus more. It made me try harder and it made me work harder. It took me many years of giving up everything, risking everything and spending 50k a month on absolutely nothing before I discovered what made me happy. For me, it was meeting my wife and falling in love with her. I felt that for the first time in my life, I was content. After that, I just sort of mellowed out. I suppose had we had kids, it would be different but after 10 years, we got a divorce. I did however always take that lesson with me. A new tricked out BMW M5 is still just a car. A penthouse is still just a place to sleep and eat. And I learned that if you are doing anything to impress others, you aren't happy.

But no matter where I am at financially, no matter how good I am doing or how bad I am doing... I always know it's 100% my doing and accept full responsibility for it. Things got bad for me a few years back and I was writing text for Sly. I wasn't bitching, complaining or whining, I was grateful even though it was very little money. In a short period of time, my income was well into the 5 figures a month again. You do what you have to, you swallow your pride, you practice humility and you do what it takes. You don't hitch and whine and complain and continually examined that being an abject fairer is never your fault... that is the very root of the problem to begin with and the very reason the cycle continues. Perplex congratulating him instead of telling him to man the fuck up simple reinforce the worst behaviors which is likely why he created this thread to begin with. If you want to help him - tell him to pull his head out of his ass.

Exactly right. Life is not fair, nor was it promised to be as such. The sooner that you learn this concept, the better off you will be.

Like the Squeeler, I had to overcome any number of life's obstacles. Parents gone when I was in my early teens. Grand parents gone by the time i was 20 leaving me with nothing but a younger sister. When you fuck up, there is no parental or family safety net to save you from the concrete.

I have had many ups and downs, but I never stopped trying. I got back up, dusted myself off, learned from my mistakes and got back to work. Every time I have, I made more money than the time before. I've never claimed to be perfect, but I can tell you from life experience that if you WANT to be some level of successful in life, it's possible. If you have to reinvent yourself, it's possible.

Of course this all requires some level of desire to make something of your self and a work ethic, which is where most fall short.

Maybe you are reading his comments from a different elitist point of view in the ivory tower. When I read many, not all, of his comments he reads as someone who has accomplished something, is proud of it, and not afraid to work.

Is he harsh at times? Sure. So is Robbie. I think anyone who actually has WORKED for what they have, and accomplished something in life is going to be a bit harsh, annoyed, or bitter to those always looking for a handout or an easy way in life.

As was said already, "Life is what you make of it".

Elitist ivory tower? I have no clue what you are talking about.

Based on years of reading posts from Mike, I genuinely think he has some issues that he could receive help with. How that makes me elitist is beyond me, but carry on.
