Hey all, it's been a long while... hello.

Hopefully the thread title has attracted the right people/producers.

Short & simple... My friend is currently in talks with Amazon, Apple, DirectTV & Comcast (which is severely interested) about his video compression tech. I've grown up with this guy, watched his brilliance and without giving too much away, you've definitely seen his handywork. We were talking and I said, "You know who'd love this?? The Porn Industry". He's given me his blessing to ask if anyone may be interested here.

I don't have all the answers, nor will I answer them here. Please PM me & I can arrange an introduction so he can get very detailed. I remember the days of when the adult industry pushed the edges of internet technology & quite honestly, I've not seen it in the news for years. This could change that... I wouldn't be back after 7+ years for anything.

4K AVC @ 7Mbps (compare to YouTube 4K @ 15Mbps)

1080P @ 3 Mbps (compare to UltraViolet 1080P @ 7Mbps)

720P @ 1.5 Mbps (compare to iTunes 720P @ 4.5 Mbps)

so lets see a demo? How does his stuff compare to h265? Are you sure he isn't just pushing h265?

Even using standard encoders, the H264 got a lot of compression parameters, I mean dozens of them you can edit into thousands of combinations so to have file very small with still decent quality - tuning H264 compression (with existing standard encoders) being a job on its own, humans can do it best because evaluating results with eyes.

There is H265 which will be supported by chipsets in a future, so H264 will be outdated in a few years, but software-only H265 implementation run too slow to be usable by conumer today for ex. in phoens, tables, old pc's.

Let your friend having made something compatible with current H264 decoding soft/hardware (so immediately playable in flash etc.), that would be a special encoder which is different from current encoders (better result with same parameters) but providing an H264 compatible output.

Note that H264 is very complicated, the C++ source code of an encoder here:

Doing better than this, still playable by H264 hardware, it is not easy task really, so you may expect people to be skeptical or at least need more info.
