It means "basic"

Term came from colleges in USA. The first year a new young student would take a class named something like "American History 101".

Next year, the class would be harder and more advanced and have a higher number.

No, I promote them by being asked to give seminars at trade shows, writing educational series threads and essentially making my clients more money. I have three on long term retainer. One has used me for 8 years, and two for around 3 years.
