Difference in this case you brought up is that it actually happened in the US, all the evidence is in the US, all the witnesses, etc... so yea, the trial obviously would be in the US, where else should it be?

I don't know. I doubt they would seeing as he would be facing the death penalty for a crime they don't see as death penalty worthy.
