I saw these guys open for Monster Magnet in the 90's (around when MM's "Space Lord" came out). They handed out a demo tape(!) at the show. I was hooked on them.

Second Coming:

Always had a thing for Winger and Tesla back in the day, although they probably were decently popular (not in Europe though).

When you say "Bigger" than they were...I'm gonna go with The Cult.

Yeah I know the album "Sonic Temple" was a monster. But they never seemed to be able to follow up on it and have the success into the 1990's that they had right there at the end of the 1980's.

Still one of my favorite albums and bands.

Even though they weren't cool to listen to publicly, I liked Winger too. One of my all time favorite bands, Enuff Z''Nuff.. here's a really catchy tune with the singer of Enuff Z' Nuff and Kip Winger..

That's actually a pretty good choice

I'm adding Robbie's trademark line up of bands - Btw. is there by a coincidence any historical stuff from the bands you were in in the 80's / 90's posted any place on the web?

Well I know exactly what you mean, too much wet panties getting thrown at Kip Winger, on the other hand I thought they were always a pretty decent band, with stellar songwriting and good arrangements.

Taking a girl who had no intention of ever showing you her boobs was a great way to see 'em...

I think this was the first song of theirs I ever heard. I heard of them prior, just never sat down and listened.. bought this album and I was hooked.

The only reason I remember them is because when they first hit with the song "Get It On" there was a lot of speculation in the U.S. that it was actually Led Zeppelin reformed under a new name. lol

For you Savatage fans- you know that three of the guys from that band have a hugely popular modern progressive rock band called Trans-Siberian Orchestra?

I wasn't a fan myself but TSO touring guitarist and former Savatage band member Chris Caffery was recently on That Metal Show talking about the unlikely possibility of a Savatage reunion since TSO is booked all over the world and doing so well.

One of the first concerts I went to was when I was in high school and saw Winger open up for The Scorpions. The Scorps were amazing . . .Winger, not so much. They were okay when they actually played, but it seemed like they were drunk and spent about half their set choosing women from the audience to get backstage. It was almost funny.

I did enjoy the hair bands of the 80s I can remember so few of them. When Nirvana, broke and opened up the entire alternative sceene that was the music I really grew up on. It was the hair bands in high school but alternative broke loose that that was that...

Even though I liked the old school stuff from Metallica and even liked Winger.. It was all lost when those tons and tons of one hit 90s groups came along. Everything was new sounding and not the tired old metal that had gotten so stale.

They were excellent.

Tom Keifer is a damn good slide guitar player and very bluesy. A lot of folks didn't see past his glam hair-metal look back in their heyday. But when you listen to a lot of those songs like "Gypsy Road", he's playing open tuned guitars and just tearing it up on slide.

You can't mention Scatterbrain without mentioning Ludichrist the NYC hardcore band that Scatterbrain evolved from. I was in the audience at this 1989 concert at the legendary Lamours Rock Club in Brooklyn the night they shot this video and performed their last show as Ludichrist and changed the band's name to Scatterbrain.
