I am in the U.S. Is Kazaa and Morpheus Illegal to use? I saw a news report on file swapping on the local news saying how these services were illegal blah blah blah. But are they technically illegal to use?

I think they are great. It is a good way to sample new music before making a bad purchase.

Hell, most of these people do not know how to make a good mp3, so I do not see whta the big deal is.

But I do agree, if you like what you download, you should buy it.

i have gigs and gigs and gigs of my own backed up cds, its easier to deal with than a pile of CDs after a good night of partying with friends etc.

i rip it and delete the songs I dont like and create killer playlists to rock out to when working.

music is life.

yeah, I just bought a couple cd's the other day I thought might be cool. They both sucked. I lost 20 bucks. As long as Kazaa is around I dont think I will buy a CD ever again. Just make my own.

When they start putting more than one or two decent songs on a cd, then there'll possibly be less use of programs like Kazaa, but as long as they just have a good title song and the rest just bullshit filler songs, then Kazaa, limewire and others will stay around.. and quite active..

The artists and producers need to get the hint..

Sharing copyrighted files is illegal. Whether the government can find a way to prosecute Kazaa et al is another matter.

One thing I will say is that those file-sharing programs seem to be a first class way to get some shit you didn't expect or want in your system.

I agree, these sights will have little effect on quality albums. The shallow "one hit per album" artists will learn soon enough.
