What laptop is everyone using these days?

My Toshiba is getting old and looking for an upgrade
Saw this
Sony - VAIO Flip 14A 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop - 8GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Black
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-vai...&skuId=2006033

Like that I can use it as a pad.

I don't want to spend more than 1,000 for a laptop as I go thru them every year or so. Not looking forward to learning windows 8. I got my last one before 8 was on all of them.

think about that

17" Acer Aspire.

It's around 6 yrs. old (or so)...running Vista.

Been a great system, though.

I still have a 10 yr.old Toshiba Satellite that runs good in the studio.

I have a apple laptop that needs a new key board and a dell with a bad screen. And I had another one stolen by an ex gf.

As you're likely aware - a lot has to do with how you use the laptop. Mine stays stationary on a cooling pad in the office all the time - it's not mobile - I never take it with me anywhere. So it avoids the inevitable shakes, bumps and stress of carrying it around.

Granted, I took it down to the Caribbean this past winter...but that's the only time it's left the office. And it was well-padded and protected the whole time as carry-on luggage.

There's no "learning" involved in using Windows 8.

Some manufacturers were still shipping models with Windows 7 installed last time I heard. If you can't find one of those that you like then you can download classic shell to make things more familiar.

Brand I always recommend for notebooks is ASUS. They're really well made and always score highly in reviews for reliability and overall in general.

Dell XPS W/ i7 processor. Its 3 years old with a SSD hard drive and 8gb ram.

Does the trick. I like that I can use it as a desktop using HDMI output and unplug as a laptop whenever I need to. Also, with a UPS built in (laptop battery) it makes sense to use when writing material!

my father in law is getting the Lenovo at BestBuy. Boyfriend has a Dell 7000 from work that isn't too shabby save for the keyboard which I personally cannot stand

sony (still have full functional A170)
asus had few in the past, I was not lucky with them
lenovo and hp very depend on grade (felt in love with engineering versions)
And somebody probably knows me as famous apple hater, but this is not actually true.
I had many problems with apple devices in the past and had to get rid of all that zoo... today I still own Air, works just fine with win7 )
