Rackspace down. Concerned about TGP bans

Rackspace.com and their customer sites are down for an hour, and still waiting.
What if TGP's ban my site because it doesn't appear? Or are they used to this sort of temporary outages?

I just called my support guy, he's going to call me back in a few minutes. First time in like 18 months Rackspace goes down and just as I start some new paid campaigns... Great!

By the way, your hosting TGP/Galleries on a rackspace server? Which package are you using, I only thought they sold traffic on a per gig basis which would rack up the costs very quickly.

Wiredguy, I think Rackspace doesn't offer site hosting service, but only leasing servers.
They charge $3.5 overage fee per gigabyte. If you prepay, unit price may decrease to $2.5 depending on the volume.

You say this is their first outage in 18 months, but it isn't There are at least 2 occurences we faced, one lasted for 4-5 hours. Also compare your March 2nd Bandwidth total to other days.

Their colocated servers haven't been down in 18 months according to my stats. Bet ya didn't even know they had colocated did ya :-)

A friend said their server was down as well, he's not on RAckspace, and our sites are up at the same time.. This means this was a backbone problem rather than Rackspace problem.

Yeah, what's also odd is it seems to have been inbound traffic to the servers only. I had lots of scripts running my servers and they seem to have not been interrupted to so they never lost the connection.

Odd...

Rackspace is the fucking best. we are in their UK and USA datacenter with a shitload of machines. and guess what:
they are all up and havent been down all day.

Ive been with Rackspace for over 3 years and except for
some hickups a few times a year not one single
serious problem related to their network .

Their support and datacenters are the best
available worldwide.

Even got support within a minute on new years eve.
just for the fuck of it.

Ok.. there's a catch.. you pay way too much.

But compared to the money it would cost and the frustration
due to fuckups and excuses from _all_ of these 'adult hosts'
makes it worth it for sure.
It's still cheaper than having a tech guy at your disposay
24x7.

Dont fuck with Rackspace!!! They are the only people
you can trust on this internet thing!!

(hope i didnt jinx something )

I agree totally. Every web server I have is with Rackspace. When you can't afford to go down, go with Rackspace. They are very expensive but you get what you pay for, and as such very little downtime.

I never really considered Rackspace for something like a TGP or galleries though, seems to me the price paid would exceed the profit potential.
