New Iraq Proposal

I've been exchanging phone calls and emails with a few radio talk show hosts (Blanquita Cullum, Larry Elder, and Tom Gresham from "Gun Talk") as well editorial reviewers from CNN and USA Today. They're all interested in doing coverage of the possibility of a new Iraqi Proposal similar to this:

I opened the site about 20 minutes ago, and this is the first place I've mentioned it to anybody (about 5 minutes ago).

this sounds like it may be a reasonable proposal.

how many signatures would make this document worthy of our leaders' attention?

i may disapprove of peaceniks, but i am ALWAYS open to other, less aggressive means of conflict resolution.

I do not care to take the time to point out the flaws I see in the proposal so suffice it to say, in my opinion, it is un-workable. Ultimately there is not any solution that is workable at this late date in time. Iraq has had 12 years to comply. It is now checkmate, game over, the USA is going to invade, period.

Not necessarily an anti-war, pro-peace proposition. More so, pro-United States goals. If Saddam decided to allow an election with UN power running it, makig it clear to the Iraqi people that they are able to choose what they want to choose (highly unlikely), Saddam would surely be defated (only his top 5%, the most wealthy people like him, because he gives money to them...the rest of the country in poverty despises the man).

If he rejects it or ignroes it, this further more goes to show his lack of cooperation with UN attempts to settle...which will build UN support towards US policies. It will not most likely persuade France to say "Lets go to war" but it'd lessen the international attention on the US being unjustified in wanting to attack Iraq. It's one step in the right direction regardless of the outcome, given this policy was put into effect.

I am watching General Tommy Franks on C-span at this very moment and he just stated that without any further preparation if the President says go we already have the military assets in place to do the job. Today Colin Powell once again re-iterated that, with or without, UN approval we are going to take Saddam down.

Ummm...if I'm not mistaken.

But didn't they have elections there not long ago and no one ran against Saddam cuz they feared him?

He only got 100% of the votes..lmao

They told Saddam to leave power and go into exile...but he refused.

So...try something else.

Yes, that's with Iraq running it's own voting. With UN-run voting, we could make sure that it was unbiased, and properly run without military (Saddam) interference.

"3) Saddam accepts the proposal - We hold elections very similar to those in the United States. Given what he says holds true, the people will unanimously elect him. If this is not the case another leader (a Kurd, or Shiit, or whoever won the election) takes power. All new methods of governing would be implimented with a new ruler. "

don't let people from florida have anything to do with the election

No offence but thats the stupist fucking thing i've ever read. Saddam is very popular with his people and they would reelect him in an instant. Does that mean he is a good leader? Nope it means the people are very stupid and brain washed by the propaganda machines Saddam uses to make US the enemy.

War creates peace and a war would be the best thing for the IRAQ people. It will be a quick defeat and Saddam will go into exile somewhere.

You're misinformed if you believe the Iraqi people like him and would re-elect him in an instant. Given the chance for an unbiased election, in which every person could vote on their own WITHOUT the threat of Saddam killing them if they voted against him, he wouldn't be quite as "popular" as what you might think.

Thanks KRL, for being one of the view with the balls to formulate their own ideas and opinions, and realize that this is a much better alternative to what's going on now, offering more positive solutions and potentially no negative results.

Unfortunately your plan seems impractical. I doubt you could get the UN to agree to that plan, since it would set a precident for the UN to have the power to recall a government. Also, you seem to overlook the daunting task of running a fair election in a country with an openly hostile government (as any goverment would be if the UN tried to force elections on it).

Too many people profit from saddam being in power, all government officials, all his chronies etc.

This would be like going into the corleone family, & the UN forcing the sorrounding neighborhood to vote on a new leader, all of them are deathly afraid #1, #2, most of them do business with the street soldiers etc.

Just wouldn't work, makes no sense at all.....

I'm still wishing you the best of luck with the plan. It's nice to see a solution posted (workable or not) instead of bitching.

If it doesn't work, then can we bomb them?

So if I sign that petition with a spam-tracking email address, how long will it be before the spam runs start?

I'll post a privacy policy soon. Only reason they're being collected is to possibly thank everyone for signing, and that they're signature is very much appreciated. Or if it gets somewhere (major news sources) to inform them they helped it to get there.

Stop beings so fucking sadistic already, eh?
