Funny thing though - you hear all this pro-Ukraine protester rhetoric from many Americans, yet if there were a similar movement in Washington DC (the Occupy stuff doesn't hold a candle) where the protesters actively lobbied for regime change and actively fought back (and were partly supported by far-right ultranationalists like in Ukraine) - they'd be labelled terrorists and the Nat'l Guard would come down on them like holy hell and wipe them off the streets. And many of those Americans who support a "peaceful revolution" in Ukraine would be 100% behind that crackdown. We apply our standards where convenient.

less funny, way more sad :(

we have elected government officials writing letters and making demands in support of the opposition, but doing so while being responsible for laws that would see those same protesters in jail for 10+ years

nice that they're so concerned finally.. now only to get them concerned about their own countries

This country needs new elections to quit the protests.

Let the people decide, see what the majority want.

They can't. Eastern Ukraine and Western Ukraine are two different nations with different traditions, history etc. For example, during WWII Western Ukrainians were fighting for Nazi and Eastern Ukrainians still remember that :2 cents:

Well, when you consider that Stalin starved 3 to 5 million of them the death just eight years previous to the arrival of the Germans it's little wonder that the remaining population initially welcomed Hitler's rule. Unfortunately for them the Nazi's treated them like shit too.

And if all that wasn't bad enough, after the war even more of them starved to death in the 1946 to 1947 famine.

This is about Ukrainians wanting to side with the West - specifically the European Union. They were headed that way until Putin gave the Ukraine leader (Yanukovich) a 'visit' ... then all of a sudden he did an about face and suddenly announced he was going with Russia. Then the protests started.

Of course it's Russia's fault.

By the way, not the Kiev only. Many of other Ukrainian cities support this great protest. It's Ukraine now, actually!

Volodymyr Porodko, deputy head of the Ukrainian Security Service, said weapons and ammunition have been stolen from the Ukrainian Security Service department in Ivano-Frankivsk.

"A total of 268 service pistols, two rifles, three assault rifles, 92 grenades, and some 15,000 cartridges were seized in the Ukrainian Security Service department in Ivano-Frankivsk," he said while meeting with foreign ambassadors in the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday.

only one opposition leader seems to have any pull with the protestors, and if he takes the position, he is a 'sell out'

safer remaining out of government, and see where all this goes, than losing the one 'official' leader of the opposition

actually my question was kind of rhetoric ;-) anyway what you said says good about intentions of opposition - 100 % power for them and their friends, that thing that Yanukovicz has (had)

1) Stalin is just a minute in a the history of Russian Ukraine (yes, Kiev was a first Russian capital city)
2) They were strawed not because of Georgian Stalin but because of their own Ukrainian fellow Vlas Chubar. Educate yourself.
3) Do you know how many people were died in other areas of the USSR during that time? Educate yourself again.

have you read the officer reports begging Stalin, or the real leader, 'Vlas Chubar', to stop? they describe the faces of the children as they died.

First of all, there is no way for them to the EU. Why? Just because the EU doesn't want to have Ukraine as a member.

Anyways, if that was be a true, is it a reason to kill and rob?

Post it here please. One once again (for the idiots), Stalin is a Georgian Jaw. He is not Russian (I mean the nationality). Furthermore, the most suffered nation from Stalin's repressions are ethical Russians. Educate yourself.

The President and the Government should have resigned long time ago and scheduled new elections, that's the only way to defuse the tension and avoid the bloodshed.

I know, and it is scenario like in Ex Yugoslavia. Ukraine is even bigger and there can be disaster if authorities don't end and punish that pro German traitor Klitcshko, that half of his life lived in Germany. If they split the country what will happen if government don't fix this terror (and yes it is terror, armed and masked people on streets shooting ), again , ordinary people will be screwed much worse then they can even imagine now. More developed part of country where industry and resources are,is pro Russian anyway, and these idiots will only get credits to spend for few years and then one morning wake up in deep shit. Been there, seen that and then it is too late. Will official Moscow finally do something or what? What are people talking there?

Pretty dumb to judge nation on exceptions/unique cases.
Russians are way less humane than Danish people and it is not even funny to try to argue this. Totally different leagues when speaking about humanity, Scandinavian people in general are probably the most pussyfied/humanified people, that is why thy are so easily raped by muslim immigrant leechers. I mean they give away everything for them in the name of "humanity", lol.
