I wholly agree with most of this because there are a number of significant obstacles to 3D porn that 4K and oculus rift devices solve.
3D porn adds an immersive quality, but you need a big screen. You don't have that with tiny cell phones even on a 3D-capable one like the old LG and HTC.
So you gotta watch it on your 3D TV, but who jerks off in front of their TV anymore? And you need to stream it from your computer because current streaming services like netflix and appleTV, don't offer 3D, even of hollywood movies (I think this also prevents 3D adoption of mainstream films)
you want to jerk off in front of your computer, but how many people have those fancy, overpriced 3D monitors? Only rich gamers.
Content-wise, there was no standard-accepted-principles for encoding for the web until recently with either half-over-under for polarized users, and half-side-by-side for shutters.
The other day I saw a huge spike in traffic to an old 3D site I ran. The analytics showed it was oculus rift developers downloading 3D porn. :P

LIvejasmin had a "3d cams" section years ago. I think it required old style colored glasses. No one cared at that, so the section gone. As someone else noted, until people have not 3d displays in notebooks, 3d is unlikely to be mainstream.Comment

Is it though? You have to think, by the time it actually becomes popular, there will 3d cameras capable of alot more because it doesn't take them long to come out with better quality gear when its in demand. So all their content will just be shot with dated technology.
Only reason i see for doing it right this second is cornering the small market and working out the kinks and learning the niche so that when the time comes, you can get off to a start with some knowledge, possibly branding yourself as the company that works in 3d so that when it does become popular, affiliates and members will goto you first. But that benefit is still minimal since getting into a market is pretty easy if you have been successful in others. Im sure manwin could jump in as soon as its popular and take it over. Meanwhile other people were waiting around putting money into a niche that right now, isn't as profitable as others

Here's an idea:
3D film makers: 3D sucks for the most part, but sometimes it can be made to pop. Watching 2 or more people fuck in 3D is just the same as in 2D because there's barely any depth to the shots, which waste any money you spend shooting or transforming it into 3D. Flat is flat is flat.
So why not try this: Make some POV scenes in 3D. A nice pair of boobs can pop-out of the screen nicely. Even better if she has longer or pointy nipples. If you shoot gay porn, a penis will appear to stick far out of the screen too if shot correctly.
To prove my point, try to remember your favourite 3D scenes from 3D movies. Remember "Friday the 13th Party 3 in Super 3D"? Jason the killer crushes some guys head and pops his eyeball out right through the screen. It was a great effect. It will not take off for porn, not just from the FB acquisition either.
If you guys remember last year there was a company in Irvine, CA developing content using the developer only versions (and pre-release) Rift from Occulus VR.
I was part of that team.
The launch was a viral success...it was picked up by Reddit, major news outlets even Discovery Channel, Fox....gamers went nuts.
California startup creating first generation of "adult entertainment" for Oculus Rift
The concept was solid, we had a few levels done for the Rift (enough for proof of concept) but the reality is there needed to be more. The problem also was ROI and from a business standpoint due to overhead the cost of developing each individual release/project, it was a major issue (in my mind at least). Montenization was always a big concern, since we were potentially first in market there was and is no benchmark.
This was something that could have been great really, especially since there was such a demand for it, but the risk was heavy. We hired and relocated developers and level designers from ID Software and other really top notch companies even.
If you ever have used a Rift it's quite an experience (almost to the point of barfing for some people), executing that with porn is totally different thing. The people we "tested" the unit were underwhelmed and wanted to get off so there was a missing element. One guy said he'd rather jack off and look at a big monitor.
3D porn, VR porn the thing that could make it really big is a physical element (Real Touch/Fleshlight/etc.) which would add costs to an end-user in the end. The tits on the girls were amazing though, especially since they were motion captured for ultimate "breast shaking movements".
