Moniker - Leaked Whois
Moniker, how it happens I have private registration since I have transfered some of my sites to you yet the whois info is spilled all over the internet?
On the side note... what can be done now people? Any advice? I think about removing the privacy and editing the info to fake one. I know it's not a best/legit solution. But fuck, it never happened to me with other registrar and I really like my privacy. |

Even if you change to fake info, some sites can show all known records.. It would at least fix it on most sites thou.

First Name= Domain
Last Name= Administrator Address= P.O. Box Address Email= Whois@YourDomainName Better than using fake info ![]() Never had a problem with GoDaddy private whois but I only use it on 2 domains out of 500+ |

I can think of two reasons why your real details may show up...
1) At some point you did not have domain privacy, so your real details were archived by a site that shows history. Can't shut the door after the horse has bolted. 2) Moniker stuffed up and removed privacy on your domain. Possibly temporarily, but long enough for the archivers to pick it up. I'm going for (2)... it has happened more than once. |

The domain is registered with verisign BEFORE whois privacy is applied by moniker, which is a service of moniker. They are two separate, unrelated processes. The real info has to go to verisign. IF you don't want that, you have to use fake info from the start, then change it to real info once whois privacy is on the domain (usually you're safe in a couple hrs)

One of reason why i left moniker was their privacy bugs,i had privacy yet it was showing anyway. When it comes to archived whois, that is a problem which is almost not possible to resolve, but after removing it on hundred of websites i gave up beside the reason why i was starting with it in a first place it was because when you were typing my first and last name in google it was showing either those whois entires or linked to sites which collect data regarding first and last names like yasni.

The only way to be sure is to never give them your real info in the first place. I had the general "domain administrator" with a Google Voice number and a PO Box on one but when I had trouble ordering due to a phone number mismatch with the billing records I called GoDaddy on the phone. I gave the guy my number on my credit card account and he unknowingly changed it on all my domains without telling me. Just like that my phone number was shoiwing up on gay and bondage domain names. Due to the archivers it's impossible to remove. All you can do is change numbers. Never again!

If you want to risk your domain to forfeiture give ICANN false ownership information. |

Well, I won't drop the names now because they bring revenue but I will possibly sell them in the future. And for now I will try to kindly ask those rogue sites to remove my shit but I have little hopes they would listen. |

After some small investigation I figured out that probably all or most of these sites listing my info got it from whoismind.com . Those mofos made business from listing whois history and since all their pages are being indexed by Google private information is not hard to find. They probably crawl the whois of every site on daily basis. They say they will not remove the whois record from their site no matter what but... if paid a fee $14.95 a year for a name they will kindly hide it for a year or hide past records for $39.95 one time fee. lol.
But the fault is by Moniker side of course. I guess I will be more careful now with putting my private info in registrar whois no matter if it has privacy feature on or not. Not hard to imagine now mom, friends, anyone Googling a name and getting street address, phone, email and a link to... my sex shop site. Nice ![]() I wonder if Google will remove it if I submit a report? Because actually that would fix the problem if the info was not in Google search results. |

![]() Now I would even pay these motherfuckers their fucking "fee" (read: ransom) but then they would get even more of my private information and the hell will freeze sooner than I would trust a company like that. So.. never. |
