The Milgram Experiment shows without a shadow of doubt that empowerment does exactly that. All that being said, I agree that it is not going to be the empowerment which is the cause. It is possibly a triggering factor though. Personally I believe the removal of the chance to explore issue of violence, domination, submission, social hierachy etc in early youth through rough play, rough sport etc is to blame for a lot of violence, bullying and outbursts such as this. Kids, boys especially, need controlled outlets to explore these notions as they are growing up. I believe that kids need to play rough sports like football and rugby and should be being taught some form of martial art in primary school and early high school.
