If you look at the very bottom of the chart you posted it says "Table 1: Reference names for Li-ion (Lithium Ion) batteries. All of the batteries are Lithium Ion, and are used in cars & computers. The chemical composition may be different for different types of batteries but this is to be expected. I don't know which of the compounds in each of the batteries is more polluting than the other, but this is not the point. I am happy to say that All of them have pollution issues when it comes to the manufacturing process, especially if the plant that makes them dumps waste instead of process & recycle it properly.

Here's an interview of the CTO (that's Chief Technology Officer) of Tesla and a specific quote- These batteries are NOT the same batteries in your fucking lap top. The difference is what makes them more of a pollutant.

If we dont support alt energy it wont get better and cheaper. The Chinese gov puts 30 billion a year into solar, they now own the market for a technology we created. Americans will wait til gas is $12 a gallon then they will wake up.
When I drove from atlanta to los angeles, you drive thru states that are flat and sunny. There should be solar panels on every house.

Also you know guys I bet you dollars to donuts all the research of batteries being bad for you came from the oil industry. Electric cars really took off they are in trouble.

Batteries are bad, period. No one has to do a study about it, but several have been done. They all say the same thing
Hydrogen cars are electric cars, zero emission vehicles powered by the most plentiful substance in the world, why isn't more being done to research that?

I'm for solar power, Obama has done some good here, he's installing them on the white house and he wants to install them on all federal buildings.

They have been using geo-thermal energy for years in Iceland to make hydrogen fuel that is commercially available there to fill vehicles, primarily city transport buses. The future will tell for sure, for right now, the battery tech they are using is polluting the world way too much.

But this is something I have wondered about for over 30 years because of my stay on a Submarine where we pumped Hydrogen overboard while keeping the O2. All made from sea water.

We watched the hunt for red october again recently, I had forgotten how bad that flick was! Well, I guess it was OK, but the shoot em up at the end amongst all the missile tubes was pretty bad.

That is some overpriced air (the oxygen use?). Wasteful but necessary spending.

I read the book and saw the movie, it was pretty good till the gun fight. I wouldn't shoot a gun inside unless I had too. Why we had shotguns. Many of the terms used were correct, like the term "Crazy Ivan" But the sonar shack would never be open to the conn like that. They have to be very quiet in the room so we could listen better. When the ship breached doing an emergency blow flying out of the water....I did that a few times, hell of a ride!

The fuel in a submarine is the size of a softball. It lasts for over 10 years.

That's how nuclear power works, it's a giant steam electric generator that produces electricity to power electric motors to propel the ship.

the two reactors on a newer carrier, one can make enough to power everything on the ship, while the other can power a small city! It's been done.

Ok, picture it this way, you are on a submarine, big enough to have a nuclear reactor and a crew of just over 100 and you are moving thru the water very deep in the ocean at flank speed. All the ballast tanks are full of water to provide what's called negative buoyancy. Using pressurized air, you blow all the tanks dry in about 2 seconds, position the plains to an up angle and floor it to the surface. The whole ship shakes as you build up speed heading for the surface. Great time to stand on a piece of cardboard and slide down one of the decks on the freshly waxed floor.
Then you breach. Better than any e ticket ride. Nuclear propelled fun ride!
