I don't think tank armour is depleted uranium. Do you care to substantiate that? As far as I have read, DU is used in armor-piercing shells and ONLY in shells.

And as for all the vets who worked around DU, have you ever heard of Gulf War Syndrome? DU is a likely culprit. Consider that only 200 or so troops died in the actual gulf war but over 7,000 of them who came down with Gulf War Syndrom died in the 5 years thereafter.

Saddam Hussein and "arab pride" have killed the 1 million or whatever the totalitarian government of Iraq says were killed.

That picture doesn't lend any credibility to the story at all. It's a picture of a dead baby, that's it. Obviously a cheap shot to get others emotionally involved. The deformities in that pic looks like they were caused by some sort of trauma, namely the facial laceration (common when forceps are used in delivery and partial birth abortions). Otherwise the umbilical cord looking like some extruded intestines and the bloat (often a side effect of letting a corpse sit around to ripen) look pretty normal.

If I the US is/was purchasing oil in exchange for food then why are the Iraqi's still starving?

How much money does Saddam spend on propoganda and pictures of himself? Why are Iraqi's starving?

How much money does Saddam spend on his military from his national budget? 80%. Why are Iraqi's starving?

Saddam buses in civilians into military posts and sites as human shields.

Saddam tests weapons on his own people and other Arabs.

Saddam invaded Kuwait, raping and looting the city. Now he claims that Kuwait is a traitor to the other Arab nations.........This is the one that I find the hardest to swallow.

As far as blaming the US for selling weapons to Iraq.....
So are foreign governments responsible for auto accidents that result in the death of a person? I mean, Japan supplies a lot of cars to the US so is Japan to blame?

It's such a joke when people claim one sides opinion is based on propaganda, and think their own position is the honest truth. It's never that clear cut, things aren't black and white even if GWB keeps trying to tell us they are.

I've spent a lot of time in science and perhaps it's made me too cynical but just accepting what is fed to you by the news media is not a way to make a decision. Although you think the media are objective and often they try to be, they have deadlines and get press releases and news conferences and oftens it's easier to just rewrite the press release, report the speech than do REAL research.

As much as a lot of you don't want to believe what is fed to you by Ari, Donald and co. is their spin on the facts not the facts.

Now, how does one know that "this baby was deformed due to depleted uranium"? I mean, maybe it was, but deformities are caused by cosmic rays hitting DNA, by exposure to all kinds of harsh and dangerous chemicals (and I bet Iraq's controls over such chemicals would seem lax by US standards), and by hereditary defects. How does one know which potential cause caused a particular incident?

DU only really becomes a problem once it's fired and particlises on impact. Unfortunately it is a very serious problem, if it was safe then America wouldn't have cleaned up DU out of Kuwait after the war.

Now I could be wrong but with a graduate degree Administative Justice and working at CJ I have seen lots of post mortem pics, and it's usually pretty difficult to determine anything (like a cause of death) from a pic like the one posted. But proof isn't what you're interested in, is it? It's sensational and shocking (sound familar anyone?) The deformities in that pic looks like they were caused by some sort of trauma, namely the facial laceration (common when forceps are used in delivery and partial birth abortions). How much money does Saddam spend on propoganda and pictures of himself? Why are Iraqi's starving? How much money does Saddam spend on his military from his national budget? 80%. Why are Iraqi's starving? Other tid-bits: Saddam buses in civilians into military posts and sites as human shields. Saddam tests weapons on his own people and other Arabs. Saddam invaded Kuwait, raping and looting the city. Now he claims that Kuwait is a traitor to the other Arab nations.........This is the one that I find the hardest to swallow. As far as blaming the US for selling weapons to Iraq..... So are foreign governments responsible for auto accidents that result in the death of a person? I mean, Japan supplies a lot of cars to the US so is Japan to blame? Hell, is Germany responsible for gun deaths in the US for weapons they sold here? Eg. H&K sigh I can't go on this is just too silly.

It's never that clear cut, things aren't black and white even if GWB keeps trying to tell us they are. I've spent a lot of time in science and perhaps it's made me too cynical but just accepting what is fed to you by the news media is not a way to make a decision. Although you think the media are objective and often they try to be, they have deadlines and get press releases and news conferences and oftens it's easier to just rewrite the press release, report the speech than do REAL research. As much as a lot of you don't want to believe what is fed to you by Ari, Donald and co. is their spin on the facts not the facts. If you feel strongly about this issue search out facts for yourself!as best you can then make a decision

I've lived in 5 countries, although i only speak English. All I said is do your own research don't believe what you're fed. I have never been in the military I don't want to be in an organisation that's main idea is to tell me what to think and force me to not question anything.
