How about the prescription drug racket?

Gentamicin - Antibacterial for pink eye, sty, conjunctivitis and other eye ailments.

Price if you buy it for your dog: $13.99

Price if you buy it for a human: $145.99

They are both the exact same solution and both are made by the exact same company. How in the fuck does that work?

Look up just about any other drug and then look up the feline/canine equivalent. All the same drugs made by the same companys. Only the packages change.

Forgot about fish. You can buy that for $4.99 at a pet store or pay $130 without insurance... hmm...

Would it really be $130 for Amox in the US?..

The plastic bottle costs more to produce than the pills.....

Yeah its a scam, although around here they've stopped selling Amoxicillin and Penicillin for fish, one of our 'hood' friends swears by that stuff as he should because it really is exactly the same shit without the high markup.

Many years ago got into a bad car accident. Bill had 2 aspirin at $10. Also had a urinalysis on the bill for hundreds of dollars that never took place. They throw shit on as all a scam, billing error my ass. I swear they triple prices and add shit on as soon as ya pull out an insurance card.

Only taken 1 animal to an emergency clinic and the prescription was some pill and pineapple juice for girlfriends rabbit but don't remember what the pill was or the cost so I'll take your word for it that drugs are cheaper for animals.

Here is a fun one.

When a pharm company comes up with a new medication they are given a 10 year exclusive window where no generics of that medicine can be sold. This is supposedly to help them make back their costs in developing it.

When I was 8-years-old I was diagnosed with asthma. I'm now an old man of 42. That is 34 years. The first albuterol inhaler I was ever given was called proventil. It is still on the market. Now, 34 years later, you can't buy generic albuterol inhalers in the US. The pharm companies have figured out how to manipulate the system so they keep their exclusivity going.

Proventil (or any other brand name) will cost you $45-$65 each depending on the brand and where you buy it. Several years ago you could buy generics or about $10-$12. Then the government made all aerosol products switch to a non-CFC propellant. Everything that is shot out of can had to switch. The pharm companies claimed that by changing the propellant they were changing the medication and it allowed them another 10 years so the generics went away.

Yeah - I was really pissed off when I had to give Eddy some of my Valium so she could fly to Spain...

When we got the airport in Spain to pick her up she was in the airline office laying on her back with the receptionist rubbing her belly - It's good stuff.....

Actually, no. Penicillin *is* penicillin, only through synthetic manipulation do you get different types and they have to be labeled differently, such as Amoxicillin, etc...

I supposed using that logic we could sell 'fruit' and not worry if we give people apples, tomatoes, bananas or grapes...

yep, the old "Fish Store" remedy was what all of us who were in touring bands back in the 1980's always used.

I confirmed the validity of that from a drummer who was in one of my bands. His sister was a RN and told us that the antibiotics for fish were exactly the same thing as the doctors prescribed.

Every band and every booking agent on the circuit knew about that. It was one of the old "carny" tricks that entertainers have always used.

So the pet store owners (this was before the big PetSmart and Petco stores existed), would see a bunch of longhaired, pale white vampire looking motherfuckers all dressed in black visit the store and buy out their entire stock of antibiotics. lol

He's not talking about a vet.
You get fish antibiotics right at the pet store over the counter. No prescription needed, no vet OR doctor visit required.

How about hospitals? Some charge 100 bucks for a 99 cent bag of saline -- which as we all know is just salt water.

I had surgery at White Plains hospital a year ago, and I was so glad I have good insurance. When I saw the breakdown of charges it almost made me sick to see what they charge for every little thing they do. I'm surprised I wasn't charged for air that the doctors were breathing.

This is why we need a universal healthcare and a regulation of medical pricing.

Had an eye infection few years ago and the drops were like $80-$90. I think when vision or hearing is involved they could make the shit $500 and I'd still pay as 2 things ya don't wanna lose.
