That was my thought -- even though my accuser is a nobody who admitted to not being able to make it in adult (and has subsequently left), people just looking casually at the thread would still wonder. The bet is not "nyah nyah I have more than you," the bet is "you called me a poser, but I'm willing to bet YOU'RE the one who can't back up what they're saying" .. and we've proven that now. Backpedaling, etc, hasn't saved the backfire.

Isn't that always the case? In some instances, the opposite is always true. I try to maintain a level demeanor on the boards and not get too charged up over anything in particular (well, that, and I'm usually trolling people to get a rise out of them anyway).

Ha! Call the reservation desk. It's in the East wing, across the grounds from the helipad and submarine base.

I've since sold that one, but it was stock exhaust. My blue one had a Corsa exhaust, and the black one has a full track exhaust -- it's quite nice at wide-open throttle.

Sadly, this isn't true. The GFY mentality is to assume an accusation is correct, and I can tell you without a doubt that this affects people choosing a developer for their project.

No I know who he is as do many here. We have just never met personally. He was quite successful in adult himself and one of those whom I helped get out of the business when the time was right and is now partnering up with me in a more profitable and less stressful venture.

I don't see that it backfired. The only thing I saw was a decent house, about $1300 in silver and apparently his silver buying funds. If edge's idea of making money is $10 a bar flipping silver then maybe he and I should have a beer. Hell I bought about 2000+lbs of stainless in the last week for less than scrap iron price. I could scrap it for 10 fold but I'm not a scrapper and prefer making lots more.. I actually thought about videoing my storage facility while I was there today but honestly I had better things to do.

What grade of stainless did you get?

If people realized how much was in the scrap business everyone would be at it. There are these guys we call scrap gypsies that come around all the time with large rolls of ben's to buy scrap metal from us. We are a good stop too. Everything from solid copper to galvanized clip. And we generate a lot. This was our biggest year in CRS usage. We processed over 4000 tons.

The bulk is generally 309 or 310. Like I said I don't scrap but I buy with scrap in mind if it ever came to that. I have a few of those guys I deal with as well. They bring me their good reusable stuff and I trade out for what I would scrap.

Well, SS is down right now and I don't hear anything about it going up any time soon.
I saw a PO last week for 304 2b last week for .21 less per pound than we paid in Oct.

As is silver and gold. But again I don't scrap so scrap price isn't really a factor for me it's just a fail safe. At the price I generally buy it for I could scrap at $.10 a pound and still make a profit if it ever came down to it. But it won't because everything is reused for it's intended purpose and I can't keep up with demand.

Stainless isn't silver or gold. It's scrap value is currently 48 cents a pound and the trend is falling.

My point was metals are down in general. The scrap price is of no real concern to me because once again I don't scrap. But if I did 309-310 hovers around .90-$1lb here $1 average nationwide..

I don't understand then. No one is ever going to retire on stainless steel recycling unless you are selling ship loads of it to China. The cost to store and move a ton of stainless scrap exceeds any value it will ever be worth.

We have roll-offs of scrap metal that we sell back to dealers and I have been watching non-ferrous like a hawk for many years. There are some parts we stamp from brass and copper where the scrap is the profit on the job.

I'm not recycling or scrapping. I buy out failed restaurants which just happen to have lots of stainless and resell the equipment. Hence the reuse. The particular load I was referring to cost me $205 which should easily bring me $4k. This was a low return load. The one the week before cost me $33 and some change. I've already made about $2k off it and as long as the buyer agrees to the shipping quote another $2k tonight and still have around $6k worth of equipment from just that round.

I think I've seen you mention you owned a restaurant or two in the past so you should know the costs. My primary focus is hood systems. If you have any idea of the cost of those then you get the idea. The $33 deal was 4 hood systems 2 9ft, 1 7ft and 1 4ft complete with ansul systems exhaust fans and heated return air units. I sold 1 of the heated returns for $1500 last week. Tonight the other will likely go for $2k.

Grant it there are other costs involved but as you can see scrapping isn't the objective. In fact if a scrapper comes in one a deal I;m doing I'll usually buy whatever it is he's there for and/or trade him off some scrap and toss him some cash because I hate seeing good usable equipment get scrapped.

Ok, I understand that. My experience with food service is in manufacturing equipment for them. We did the ice tea machines for McD's when they introduced the round tea urns. That was a huge project. We made them for all the McD's around the world. Along with that we did hot chocolate machine cabinets. Today we are still making assemblies for the French fry freezers. I'd have to look but If I had to guess we've done over 30,000 of them since the project started. Our fab division does a lot of stainless cabinets for some smaller food chains as well. We do a lot of stainless fabricating work.

Ah, I must be thinking of someone else. We should chat sometime down the line about doing some hoods when I'm ready for it. I have a local guy who fabs any custom orders I have now. He's good but he likes to take his time so I really can't do any volume with him. I get A Lot of requests for low profile hoods for food trucks so if you decide to look into it and want to take a stab at it let me know.

onwebcam 12-23-2013 09:32 PM

So it was $33 and no change. I ended up giving the most expensive item to a scrapper. Because the "condition uncertain" was certainly not worth the time.

onwebcam 12-23-2013 10:03 PM

Actually I forgot that I sold the 7ft hood system for $1400. So I'm at $2900 in sales $2k pending from $33 of goods ($12 in all actuality) on that one deal in a matter of weeks. If anyone can show me any better returns on the money then I'm glad to hear it.

In fact I'll put my money making skills where my mouth is. Me and one other person pretty much have the Eastern seaboard covered. I need someone I can trust out west (primarily central CA) that has a little money to start up and wants to make a living on said money. If it's the right person who doesn't have the funds but is willing to put in some effort I may be willing to bankroll a few deals.

Paully 12-23-2013 11:22 PM

I remember one time this chick was blowing me in the dark after we already banged it out and Aunt Flo made a visit next thing I know I got this super hottie trying to be all sexy with her face covered in blood. Looked like someone with palsy tried to feed her a jelly doughnut.
