It depends. If you had come up right away when the boat hit the bottom, and you were making sure to let air dribble out of your lungs as you rose, (so that your lungs didn't over expand), you would be ok. Once you were down there for any length of time though, over say, 15 minutes, you would have the bends, since the air in that cabin was under pressure from the water around it, and you would have nitrogen in your bloodstream.

Under a minute if he was holding on to some kind of flotation device. He is probably VERY lucky that he DIDN"T try to go up. If he was not a trained diver, (wich it doesn't seem like he was), then he would have held his breath the whole way up, as opposed to letting air out gradually as he went up. His lungs would have ruptured as the air in his lungs expanded. He would have been dead 4 or 5 minutes after he hit the surface.
