You're right of course. In my post (above) I wasn't referring to the US withdrawing from trade with the world, or them reneging on economic agreements, policies etc, at all. I was referring to the aid, disaster aid, peacekeeping duties, crisis intervention and their military presence. If they were to withdraw all that and more, all the same people who are bitching now would then be saying the Americans are selfish and uncaring.

I've been to other countries and have never seen animosity anything to the extent that I've seen here recently.

I've also lived in two of the most diverse states in the US, California and Florida. Florida especially gets a ton of tourists. Loads of Canadians and Australians and they've always been friendly and said good things about being in the US.

Maybe its cause I've dealt with foreigners in their 30's, 40's and 50's and not the younger 20's crowd like in here. I've done business and have friends in many different countries and not one has an anti-american attitude like I've seen here.

Its simple really. Most people are more polite in person than they are online. Also, in person you know to ignore the tirades of an unwashed madman talking to himself and screaming at passersby.

My experience has been the same. I've lived all over the world. But I've also not encountered so many Americans that were so arrogant as to not accept anyone else's oppinion, not to mention mistaking nationalism for patriotism. I support the pending war. I love my country, but pu-lease....comments from people purporting to represent all Americans or all conservatives make me want to puke.
