George Zimmerman Charged With Aggravated Assault of Girlfriend

George Zimmerman is in a Florida prison cell awaiting his first appearance before a judge Tuesday in the same courthouse where he was acquitted this summer of murdering Trayvon Martin.

Zimmerman, 30, was arrested today after a "domestic disturbance" with his girlfriend. He now faces a felony charge of aggravated assault and the lesser charges of battery domestic violence and criminal mischief.

Zimmerman's girlfriend, who the Seminole County Sheriff's Office identified as Samantha Scheibe, told a 911 dispatcher that the incident began when the former neighborhood watch captain grew upset during an argument and brandished a weapon at her.

"He's in my house, breaking all my s--- because I asked him to leave," Scheibe told the dispatcher. "He's got a freaking gun breaking all my stuff right now."

Scheibe said Zimmerman then pushed her out the home that they have shared ever since Zimmerman became estranged with his wife and locked her out. Authorities said when they arrived Scheibe gave them keys to the home, and that they had to push through obstacles by the door to get in.

"When we arrived, the victim indicated that she and George Zimmerman were having a verbal dispute and at that time she alleged that he had broken a table and pointed a long-barrel shotgun at her," Seminole County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Dennis Lemma said at a news conference.

However, Zimmerman tells a different tale. He told police in a separate 911 call that she instigated the incident.

"My girlfriend has ... for lack of a better word, gone crazy on me," said Zimmerman while police knocked on the door trying to speak with him.

"The police is already there and so why are you calling? What happened?" the dispatcher asked.

Zimmerman replied, "I just want everyone to know the truth."

In Zimmerman's 911 call he says his "pregnant" girlfriend instigated the altercation and that no guns were used. Police later noted that his girlfriend was not pregnant.

"I never pulled a firearm. I never displayed it. When I was packing it I'm sure she saw it. I keep it next to the bed," Zimmerman said.

He said he agreed to leave the house to diffuse a tense conversation, and at first she agreed but then became upset.

"When she changed, she just started smashing stuff. Taking stuff that belonged to me. Throwing it outside. Throwing it out of her room. Throwing it all over the house. She broke a glass table," said Zimmerman.

Zimmerman appeared hesitant to speak with officers who were trying to get in the home.

Dispatcher: Is she still outside with the officers now? Zimmerman: I don't know ma'am. I'm inside. Dispatcher: You're inside? And you're still not willing to go out and speak with the officers? Zimmerman: I can talk to one of the officers. But I don't want to go outside.

Zimmerman asked to speak with an officer on the phone. He was unarmed when police got to him and "rather passive," Lemma said. He offered no resistance and was taken into custody. He is being held without bond and if a judge decides to let him go free, authorities have requested that he once again be outfitted with an electronic monitoring device.

Police have requested a search warrant of his home and have not yet recovered the weapon or weapons

This state is fucked up. I'll pull up the case law somewhere when I have the ambition, but here is a perfect case scenario regarding how fucked up the law is, but at the same time protects it...

It goes something like this:

Methed out boyfriend/husband/whatever gets this great idea to go steal shit from some guy/strawberry/orange farmer and tell her (girlfriend or whatever) that they should do this. She (according to her testimony) adamantly states that she tries as hard as she can to tell him no. He forces a gun to her head and makes him drive her there.

Reader's Digest version because I don't want to bore you too much... she sits in the drivers seat and enters this guy's property. After the crime is committed, the are driving away and the guy that owns the property (he saw the guy stealing shit) states that he feels his life was threatened and opens fire on the truck/SUV that the perps were driving.

Kills the crackhead guy but not the girl.

Girl gets charged with premeditated murder, boyfriend headless in the passenger seat, cops give the farmer back his gun.

Shouldn't this be a little more difficult to figure out?

I can't really comment on the law because I don't anything about Florida law and not much more about similar laws in general.

The basic story is a kid was walking home from the store minding his own business. My kid walks to and from the local store, wears a hoodie from time to time, and walks between some houses on a few paths. Does that mean an armed man can follow my kid, stalk them, and then shoot them only because my kid was walking between houses?

I don't care what the law says. You cannot shoot and kill someone who has done nothing wrong.

There were plenty of "tells" to the GZ story of events and the jury just never picked up on them or didn't even know about it. It's been a while but off the top of my head comes the comments from the detective who took the call saying that if he had observed TM doing EXACTLY the same things that GZ claims to have seen, he would not even have slowed down let alone try to question him or follow him.

The entire racial component was a huge fuck up for everyone to have wasted a moment of time on. The real profiling argument came out of Georges own mouth on the telephone when he called him a fucking punk and said these assholes always get away. He profiled him as a criminal. Couldn't have been more obvious.

The jury also didn't know that he had been in an argument with his wife and was pissed off to begin with. In some geniuses mind this was irrelevant. I wonder if they still think so after the latest incidents where he's gotten pissed off with a woman and allegedly held up one of his weapons to make him seem tough / strong / male / who the fuck knows?


By the way, the actual neighbor hood watch leader, above Zimmerman, said under oath and to cops that what GZ did was what they preach AGAINST doing. You are not to follow, carry weapon or escalate anything. You are not to do shit but call the damn police but GZ was tired of those punk assholes from always getting away wasn't he. Why yes I do believe it may have come up that he was..

He was also not on patrol. He was just going out to the store.
