The evil communist state of Vermont signed single payer health care system into law

It will be completely operational by 2017, but if you need to see a doctor or go to the hospital, there will be no charge for the treatment or visit, only a small tax increase from this horrible socialist state govt. It's Horrible what these freedom hating commies have done..perhaps the tea party can save them from their evil ways..

i hope it works. if they can demonstrate taking the insurance companies profits out of the equation lowers costs, its just a matter of time that all blue states have it while the red states choke on their capitalist healthcare.

Yea, it's kind of a strange place in a cool way. I took a few road trips around vt this summer and enjoyed it a bit more than most of the others states around New England. It was kinda cool, that you could be driving down what you might expect was a off-road trail and find someone's house in the middle of nowhere..

I had already put VT high on my list, if I moved back up there. I think if this works out, it would seal the deal.

The good doctors will just go to another state where they can make decent cash. And the good ones that stay will just work on a cash basis for those that can afford it.

The rest of you can stand in long lines for McMedicine with foreign trained medical staffs.

yeah. But the right wing will never come around to its economic benefits until they see it working inside this country. If a time comes that large companies are moving JOBS to single payer states cause they dont have to pay health benefits anymore, then the right will wake the fuck up. Bottom line for republicans is always the money.

Just like teachers and cops all flocking to states that pay the most? Added bonus.. Have you ever seen how much bullshit doctors go through with insurance companies? I'm pretty certain that just as many doctors would flock to a state that does away with insurance companies as those those that might leave for more money,..

I hate to break it to you, but not everyone makes money their top priority.. Perhaps if you ever it up under the knife, you can think about what's better, a doctor whom just does it for the money or because he wants to help people...

And if by some miracle the entire country ever went single payer?

Where would these good doctors you speak of go then?

Here is an interesting chart. It shows average salaries of doctors for several countries. Some interesting thoughts about it. Below the chart they talk about how doctors who are self employed and have their own practices make more than those who work for others (which makes sense). Another interesting thing is that in some of these countries doctors may start their careers with zero education debt while in the US the average doctor starts their career with $129K in student debt. Another factor would be insurance costs. I don't know the number, but I would imagine US doctors pay a hell of a lot more in insurance costs that many others.

http://www.practicelink.com/magazine...ion-worldwide/

I have a feeling if the US went to a single payer system doctors would continue to be paid very well.

An independent review of the state?s upcoming health information technology projects estimates that they will cost the state $427.5 million over five years. The estimated cost for the market portion is $224 million.

Healthcare is not crumbling economies.
Wasted spending on corrupt officials and bailouts to banks making profits recorded in the billions are not helping though.

Careful spending of tax dollars is what is needed, governments seem to throw money at anything the official in power at the time wants to try.

those are all myths
http://www.thefiscaltimes.com/Column...oped-Countries

first doctors dont make much less
There are many reasons why Americans pay far more for health care than those in every other country. One is that we pay our doctors more than any other country does. The average primary care physician makes $186,582 in the U.S. versus $159,532 in the U.K., $131,809 in Germany, $125,104 in Canada, $95,585 in France and $92,844 in Australia.

We actually have less doctors
One would think that with such high incomes, the U.S. would have far more doctors per capita than other countries. In fact, the U.S. is at the bottom of the countries surveyed in this regard with just 2.5 physicians per 1,000 people. Sweden has 3.9, Germany and Switzerland 3.8, Norway 3.7, Australia 3.3, France 3.1, the U.K. 2.8 and New Zealand 2.6.

In many other ways as well Americans get less for their health care dollar than the citizens of other countries do. It is much harder for them to get same-day or next-day appointments with their doctor and have much greater difficulty getting after-hours care. Consequently, Americans use high-cost emergency rooms more than those in any other country do.

Yea it just boggles my mind to see people whom support the system we have now, which depends on payments to a third party that does nothing but determine if you can get funding or not for your treatment. Really that's all a insurance company is, is a third party, that decides if you get treatment or not.

hard to beat a good anal lube like your healthcare mails your countrymen with the health insurance bill I know you do not feel it because your a$$hole is big

oh and its not in your best interest to mock voodoo surgeons and leeches because cuba actually has a lower infant mortality than the USA

2 possible conclusions:

1) runied to fuck by half a century of US sanctions Cuba does better with sticks and stones than your 80$ aspirin ass ripper healthcare

2) voodoo is powerful but taking it up the ass from healthcare makes your nipples sensitive

you will probably conclude #2 because you paid 200.000$ for a fountain and do no fully seem to grasp the concept of "rip off"...

They are also beholden to shareholders and there has been testimony before congress long ago now that workers were paid bonuses for denying coverage. How can you please shareholders if you keep paying for expensive treatments? You can't. So you add incentives to your people to keep outgoing money to a bare minimum. Then you buy more high class shit to fill the place where a human heart belongs.

Good, this is how things should be handled. On a State by State basis.

I would think that so many "experts" on the workings of government in the United States would understand that this is how it's supposed to be. The states are the "Laboratories Of Democracy" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laboratories_of_democracy where ideas are tried out, the theory is that if an idea is good then people will move to that state increasing it's power, influence and prestige.
If an idea is unpopular then people will move away from that state, it's called "voting with your feet"

That way the other states can adopt what works, avoid what doesn't and improve the overall well-being of the citizens.

As opposed to what we got with the ACA where the Federal government forces mandates and taxes down everybody's throat with no recourse, to avoid the Obamatax you can either spend a whole lot of money on something you maybe don't want to buy.

Or leave the US.

Or die.

I applaud Vermont, I hope other states follow suit, because healthcare should never have even been attempted by the Federal Government.
It may work for individual states but the whole US is too complicated for a top-down, one-size-fits-all approach plus I think it's really outside of the scope of Federal power.

The only question I have about Vermont is how long will it's citizens have to pay the Obamatax for not purchasing insurance like the ACA requires?
Once a tax is enacted it's nearly impossible to get congress to rescind it.

?When ObamaCare was debated and passed in 2009 and 2010, none of its proponents, including the president, told the American people that the law granted the federal government the authority to bail out insurance companies at the expense of taxpayers. But now their dirty little secret is out, and it should be wiped out from the law,?

Good to know where more of your taxes will go.. making sure that insurance companies make a good profit.

The uk made theirs coming out of WW2 when both the country and economy was in ruins..
