exotics just won't go where I like to drive, vettes will and by that I mean out in the woods on fire roads etc ... vettes will. you need to be careful though :winkwink:

what I really like about vettes is American muscle... a vette will drive around town all day without ever cracking 2K on the tach if you should choose and NEVER, EVER be lagging... I loves me some fucking torque :thumbsup

.I have said that I've never been a fan of corvettes. They always got something wrong.

That's changing. This new version is as right as a car needs to be. Cost not being part of the equation this is a really good car. It should be a $300k car. It's that good.

Alex69 10-26-2013 11:28 AM

my bentley leves it far far behind :)

I agree corvettes are great... always been billed as the 'everyman's race car' and rated against cars that cost 70% to 150% more....the vette has had issue for sure however bang for buck.... I had a 2004 c5, hands down the best car I ever had... drove it for 7 years... just a few issues in that time... crank chip and cam chip needed to be replaced... had 140K on the car when I moved over to the ctsv... the vette was deff rattling etc but the main issue I had with the car was 'outdated electronics'... I like all the flashy fun stuff in the dash, like onstar etc...

I will get the c7 as soon as I can get a supercharged with auto trans :thumbsup

Nice looking ride :thumbsup

pimpmaster9000 10-26-2013 12:36 PM

lots of nissan350 and old acura nsx influence in the front...looks like a nissan to be honest...the 1970-s stingray is probably the most beautiful car in the world IMO but this one is like the new camaro...a total design disappointment...

mineistaken 10-26-2013 01:41 PM

Not the best looking generation of corvette, thats for sure.

even in pics the car is gorgeous, they knocked it out of the park with this one. wow.

the only *wtf* for me design-wose was the fact that the tail lamps are not round, but srsly no biggie and i like the controversy of the styling.

and i teased a bit about the rear suspension. but obvioulsy the c7 is a seriousy sorted out car.

Of course that's subjective, but I was not a fan before I saw it.

i don't like that car in blue, in green would kick ass.

what in the fuck are you going to do with a car like that anyway? lease a track like as pictured to compete in races for cash or women? or just drive it around town at a snails pace, never ever fulfil the cars purpose, and own and drive it just for eye candy?

have you done any illegal street racing minte?

I live in the country. So my version of street racing is probably different than yours.
My wife took this from our Lamborghini. I've done a few stoplight - stoplight things over the years when I had the E55amg but am not really a fan of that. Where I drive fast about the worst that can happen is I might hit a deer..or a tree.

that's not too bad with the racing stripes because it takes attention away from the green.

green kawasaki's are pretty radical, the kawasaki ninja's. i was almost going to buy a kawasaki but it was not a ninja, it was a 1993 zww or something.

yes but the classic 69 sting ray for example is so beautiful in person that it actually inflicts physical pain...nice to hear that the new version is better in person, I know many cars are, but its just too nissan + ferrari california smile...the 70s design is butt rapist but the new version is just cut and paste...not that I would not drive it or anything its just that I am such a huge fan of corvettes and this new one is, as far as design only, disappointing...

True, but the Tesla is 50k more for similar performance. I can't believe how cheap the Vette is. IS 71k about right?

Don't get me wrong. I like the idea of the tesla. I wish they would be a bit more creative and design their own body, rather than just electrify a lotus and an A-M. Also, look up battery life/distance in cold weather. It's not great. Even in normal warm weather you can't take them anywhere. A trip across the country would be epic. Drive 200 miles then charge over night.

If you want to get excited about the future of green automobiles..think hydrogen.

But think of it as your daily driver. Amazing speed and it is super different. Everyone gets excited about the range. I rarely drive 300 miles in a day. Probably only once a year or less.

My new MB Sclass is a AWD twin turbo and it is very fast and supremely comfortable, the perfect daily driver. When I have the need to drive electric, I use my golf cart at the plant. :)

dyna mo 10-27-2013 08:24 AM

MInte, can you use your parking lot for auto cross weekends? you mentioned y'all hit 120 in the lot in that c7, get some orange cones and holler at your driving bros to bring their shiney machines!!!

You have yet to drive one. They are amazing. The lack of delay when you put the pedal down is a rush. Then add in the lack of moving parts and a motor head like you can just go crazy over it. Seriously try it once. It is an amazing car. I have zero doubts that it is the future.

Think once BMW or MB gets a handle on electric motors?

:thumbsup

We have discussed moving the cars & coffee to our lot and then doing some DE's after.
It's a large lot, 525 spaces and big lanes between them. The only issue is our insurance company doesn't like that I have the cars I have. If someone screwed the pooch on our property in a performace event it might really annoy them.

I'm not down on electric cars. One of these days I will try one. If they put a proper transmission in one that would be better. I like shifting. Hitting the apex at the exact right rpm, sliding the rearend out a bit.. you know. DRIVING! :)

the new Corvette gets excellent reviews in german car mags - including the new quality of the interior

and that seriously says something...

georgeyw 10-27-2013 03:04 PM

They should make a twin Turbo version

I spent some time trying to be critical of the interior but really couldn't. Granted the car was brand new. No squeaks, rattles or odd parts that didn't look or fit quite right. I was actually impressed with how far Chevy has come on the interior. It felt quality.

If I had one knock against the car it would be the size. But then I would say the same about all the car companies these days. The new Porsche 911 is a solid foot longer than mine.
I don't get why they keep making everything bigger.

hah, it's funny you mention this because the 1st thing i thought after reading madalton's comment was it says a lot to have a european car enthusiast, not to mention a porsche fan, point out the postive reviews, the 2nd thing was well, crap, the c7 will never really fit on a lot of roads there.

i also wonder what their export plans are for the car.

I want a transmission that will enable 200+ mph. Right now they're not focusing on that kind of ability... but they will be... soon.

I only buy sticks for that reason too. I was really impressed though. The fun part might be learning to "drive" the new system.

it will be sold in Europe as well - for about $100k

and i always liked the Corvette - it just felt really cheap on the inside - same as the first Viper or more ore less any american car - when you compare them to Audi or Mercedes

Calloway has an interesting Stingray modification:

STINGRAY SHOOTING BRAKE.

I LOVE this. 15k addition to the Stingray, but holy hell is that a handsome car.
