green kawasaki's are pretty radical, the kawasaki ninja's. i was almost going to buy a kawasaki but it was not a ninja, it was a 1993 zww or something.

yes but the classic 69 sting ray for example is so beautiful in person that it actually inflicts physical pain...nice to hear that the new version is better in person, I know many cars are, but its just too nissan + ferrari california smile...the 70s design is butt rapist but the new version is just cut and paste...not that I would not drive it or anything its just that I am such a huge fan of corvettes and this new one is, as far as design only, disappointing...

My wife took this from our Lamborghini. I've done a few stoplight - stoplight things over the years when I had the E55amg but am not really a fan of that. Where I drive fast about the worst that can happen is I might hit a deer..or a tree.

I'm looking to move to an area like this next year hopefully..

True, but the Tesla is 50k more for similar performance. I can't believe how cheap the Vette is. IS 71k about right?

Don't get me wrong. I like the idea of the tesla. I wish they would be a bit more creative and design their own body, rather than just electrify a lotus and an A-M. Also, look up battery life/distance in cold weather. It's not great. Even in normal warm weather you can't take them anywhere. A trip across the country would be epic. Drive 200 miles then charge over night.

If you want to get excited about the future of green automobiles..think hydrogen.

But think of it as your daily driver. Amazing speed and it is super different. Everyone gets excited about the range. I rarely drive 300 miles in a day. Probably only once a year or less.

My new MB Sclass is a AWD twin turbo and it is very fast and supremely comfortable, the perfect daily driver. When I have the need to drive electric, I use my golf cart at the plant. :)

dyna mo 10-27-2013 08:24 AM

MInte, can you use your parking lot for auto cross weekends? you mentioned y'all hit 120 in the lot in that c7, get some orange cones and holler at your driving bros to bring their shiney machines!!!

You have yet to drive one. They are amazing. The lack of delay when you put the pedal down is a rush. Then add in the lack of moving parts and a motor head like you can just go crazy over it. Seriously try it once. It is an amazing car. I have zero doubts that it is the future.

Think once BMW or MB gets a handle on electric motors?

:thumbsup

We have discussed moving the cars & coffee to our lot and then doing some DE's after.
It's a large lot, 525 spaces and big lanes between them. The only issue is our insurance company doesn't like that I have the cars I have. If someone screwed the pooch on our property in a performace event it might really annoy them.

I'm not down on electric cars. One of these days I will try one. If they put a proper transmission in one that would be better. I like shifting. Hitting the apex at the exact right rpm, sliding the rearend out a bit.. you know. DRIVING! :)

the new Corvette gets excellent reviews in german car mags - including the new quality of the interior

and that seriously says something...

They should make a twin Turbo version

I spent some time trying to be critical of the interior but really couldn't. Granted the car was brand new. No squeaks, rattles or odd parts that didn't look or fit quite right. I was actually impressed with how far Chevy has come on the interior. It felt quality.

If I had one knock against the car it would be the size. But then I would say the same about all the car companies these days. The new Porsche 911 is a solid foot longer than mine.
I don't get why they keep making everything bigger.

hah, it's funny you mention this because the 1st thing i thought after reading madalton's comment was it says a lot to have a european car enthusiast, not to mention a porsche fan, point out the postive reviews, the 2nd thing was well, crap, the c7 will never really fit on a lot of roads there.

i also wonder what their export plans are for the car.

I want a transmission that will enable 200+ mph. Right now they're not focusing on that kind of ability... but they will be... soon.

I only buy sticks for that reason too. I was really impressed though. The fun part might be learning to "drive" the new system.

it will be sold in Europe as well - for about $100k

and i always liked the Corvette - it just felt really cheap on the inside - same as the first Viper or more ore less any american car - when you compare them to Audi or Mercedes

Calloway has an interesting Stingray modification:

top gear could do a segment on this, ending with dropping something very heavy on it from a crane.

Almost all of my cars have been sticks. I love DRIVING, too, but trust me if you try a Tesla Model S, you won't want or care or need a stick because I bet if there was one, it would be completely impossible to drive it faster than letting it do what it does by itself.

Meh. That looks like the Ferrari FF a bit, which I'm not too much of a fan.

As much as I love the new vette I do have to agree with Mark, for a daily driver I would take the tesla over the vette any day.

That's why they more more than one, different strokes for different folks!

a personal choice of one car over another makes sense, regardless of the reasoning. saying a tesla s outperforms a c7 is silly.

Im still partial to the look of the ones in the mid to late 60's

ExtremeBank_Adam 10-29-2013 06:43 PM

Just saw this thread... I actually have TWO Vette's on order at the moment. I'll explain...

I put a deposit on a convertible a few months ago, before I saw any photos of one. I called my buddy at the Chevy dealership to find out the progress and he said the convertibles wouldn't be available until mid first quarter 2014. So, wifey and I headed up to the dealership and drove the new coupe. We also looked at some pics of the convertible, and to be honest, I like the coupe better after seeing them both. So, we ordered the coupe as well. Once the dealership gets the convertible, they'll have no problem selling it. (We're only buying one.)

We decided on the yellow Z51 with black interior. Carbon fiber top is on constraint, so we opted for the dual top (one glass, one body color). We're also getting the dual mode exhaust, black wheels with yellow calipers, and black mirrors and rear spoiler. I thought I wanted white, but after seeing a similar yellow one on the showroom, I decided to go yellow instead. (The yellow one on the showroom had an ugly interior, brownstone suede.)

Only problem is, Z51's are also on constraint at the moment, so I don't know when the order will go through. We also like the red and white ones, so if they get an unclaimed one with the options we like in any of those colors before ours gets there, we might get that one instead.

A few pics...

Ours will be similar to this one, with a different interior:

On the new Vette's, the darker colors hide the lines too much. Plus, the contrast of lighter colors with the Z51's optional carbon rear spoiler and mirrors, plus the black wheels, make the whole thing look better.

Of course, that's just my opinion. :thumbsup

I cannot argue with someone who's not only seen it in person, but actually purchased one!

I always find dark color cars (when clean) look nicer than lighter ones.

Either way congrats on the new ride :thumbsup
