Kurt Cobain's childhood home up for sale

news just in.

http://www.imdb.com/news/ni56226627/?ref_=hm_nw_tp_t4.

interesting.

i was a distant fan. i was familiar with nirvana's music through friends of mine. my friends would tell me stories about kurt when he was alive and also about how his widowed wife after he died became such a sliver tongue and telling absolutely everyone he had died, but doing so in a way by sensationalising the whole affair.

twenty years to the month, this month, since he decided to take his own life. i have been there many many times with anxiety, angst, mild depression, psychosis... i think kurt might not have been a mentally well man like myself. if he never recognised that he was mentally unwell himself when he was alive then perhaps he was better off dead a lot sooner.

courtney love at one time was actually a new zealander.

then that will be her cross to carry.

kurt cobain was, lets be honest, a drug addict. he was addicted or had previous addictions to some rather hard drugs.

maybe he was better off dead at a younger age.

Second guessing really doesn't matter does it. He is an artist now remembered for his music and it's influence just as Jim Morrison and many other's in the 27 club.

Probably one of the best ages to die at actually. Sometimes I wish I had.

kinda hard to pull the trigger of a shotgun yourself if it is shoved in your mouth....just sayin'...and of course the gun was "laying on his chest" when he was found.

Right. It is 20 years since In Utero was released. He killed himself in 1994.

Yes, he was on drugs - and so was she and half of music - but he also had a stomach condition that had him in constant pain. Combine pain with being married to Courtney and you would probably be on drugs too. Of course somebody isn't in the healthiest mental place when they kill themselves.

Plus, if somebody is better off dead at 27 because they have done drugs then a lot of folks should be taking themselves out.

This might sound odd, but i think he was better off dead at 27.
He joined the ranks.

I don't condone suicide i think it is a pussy way out. however he will be remembered longer then any of us on this board. In 200 years they might know of Nirvana, no one will know of me.

His immorality is down to his likely down to his early death. Nirvana were a great band that deserve the attention they have had but people forget that they weren't that huge when he died. They were on the rise but it was more the artsy weird kids that were big fans at that stage.

The jocks and such were busy with Pearl Jam. They knew Teen Spirit but not much else. After he died, the larger masses started listening. I remember seeing a football player in my school wear a t-shirt with his suicide note on it a few weeks later and I am pretty sure he barely knew of them previously.

The Unplugged album wasn't even out before he died.

no that is your interpretation of how popular they were.. they were very popular at the time and hailed as pioneers and yes it did improve after..

Well, results may vary especially in the localized nature of pop culture back then. However, it was the era where I was very alert to music and I was into them and being somewhat fascinated by their rise. In the lead up to his death they were getting a ton of MTV play, I particularly remember Heart Shaped Box being on silly frequent rotation and have always mentally sliced in reports of his death with the health scare he had a couple months prior.

So, in my area at the time, they were certainly very popular in certain groups and becoming more well known with the mainstream but they weren't the wide spread favorite they became. Like I said, at that time the jocks were all about Pearl Jam in our area and they certainly out numbered the types of kids that were into the Nirvana side of things.

I don't deny that..Nervermind was huge and Teen Spirit was the song of that year. What I was saying is they were big and particularly in certain groups but they were not the level they became after his death.

i thought kurt had shot himself, but with a revolving pistol. it wouldn't be all that hard to shoot yourself with a gun like that, a shotgun. i imagine you would put one end on the floor and have the other end pointed up at your head then pull the trigger then let gravity do the rest.

i happened to see a 2005 dramatisation this year of kurt cobain titled "last days", me and my girlfriend watched it on youtube. whether or not he would walk around their communal living situation up there in seattle pointing shotguns and or rifles at his friends while they were sound asleep i think remains pure speculation.

i think if kurt were still alive and he saw himself being portrayed that way by gus van sant (the director of the movie) he wouldn't be happy.

El Duce who was the lead singer of The Mentors claimed that Courtney Love approached him asking him to kill Kurt for $50,000, he didn't do it but put her in touch with the guy who did the job. After Kurt's death El Duce starting telling this story to people and few days later he was run over by a train and decapitated, which makes you wonder if his story has merit. I'm glad I got to see both The Mentors and Nirvana before they met their premature ends.

I was lucky enough to meet him several times and interview him once for the magazine I used to write for way back when. He was a brilliant, but troubled guy. On top of being an addict he had a stomach condition that caused him constant pain so one of the reasons he took the drugs was that they helped with the pain. It was a terrible case of self-medication.

I have nothing good to say about Courtney.
