We are headed for a tiered healthcare system, and all of this will be a short blip on the timeline in hindsight.

In the near future you'll see:

Tier 1 cash only for the best doctors and the people who want to pay for them

Tier 2 single payer with private paid supplemental insurance to see Doctors and reduce waiting times for nonemergent care, get nongeneric drugs, or to cover some elective medicine like dental care, eyeglasses, orthodontics, etc...

Tier 3 single payer healthcare for "free" with most people seeing mid level providers like PAs and RNs who are supervised by Doctors.

Once the system is in place they will data mine the fuck out of medical records to reduce waste, provide targeted medical care based on patients with similar history and establish cost benefit analysis of exactly what the tier 3 coverage should cover. Anyone who wants more coverage than that will buy private supplemental insurance for a fee or pay cash. The result will eventually be a much more efficient system with little or no profits on necessary basic medical care and plenty of room for profits on supplemental/elective procedures.

This is an inevitable fact.... The only question is whether it takes us 10 years or 100 years to get there and how bad the lobbyists and politicians fuck it up along the way before the final system is in place.

Do you believe everything you hear on Fake news? The reason so many doctors and truck drivers are retiring is because of the baby boomers. They have finally reached retirement age and well, they are retiring..

Leave it to Fake.. I mean Fox propaganda to claim its Obamas fault.

Gee thanks Obama for making the baby boomers retire.. If George bush was still in office they would say fuck retirement...let's keep working for the fatherland!

Just thought I'd mention that locally there is a big truck driving school. They advertise like crazy on radio and television and offer sign on bonuses and do a nice job of marketing the career. It's probably one of the booming industries right now due to boomers retiring. NTTS, National Tractor Trailer School. Join now.

Crockett - How can you continue to support Obama when he has gone back on nearly all of his campaign promises ?

And as far as Obama's fault, well the first 4 years of his presidency, everything was Bush's fault, shouldn't he own at least something that happened during his presidency ?

I voted for Obama to get us out of Iraq and refocused the war on terror. I never fell for the change BS so I was never disappointed in anything to that effect as I'm smart enough to know, that as long as private money is involved in politics nothing will change.

He did get us out of Iraq and put the focus on Afghan and managed to get bin laden to boot. Now we are slowly pulling out of Afghan.

I never expected him to work miracles with the economy as no one is going to fix that mess and I am 100% sure that it would be in worse shape today with Romney in charge.

I'm unhappy that not a single banker has gone to jail and that Wall Street is still doing the same shit today that they did before. I'm also very displeased about the NSA issues and I've been very vocal about that.

The NSA issues would be the same under a republican as Obama, so voting for the other guy wouldn't of changed anything. Far as wall st and Romney well he was in bed with them just the same..again would of been no different.

The way I look at it Obama at least got the wars right and that was a major factor to me. In fact, the wars should of been every Americans top priority.

Google automated cars are already driving around the country, car companies plan to offer some kind of autopilot features in the next few years. I'd be shocked if those trucker job exist in 20 years. The teamsters, cab drivers, bus drivers, etc are all about to be replaced by GPS and vehicular automation.

I saw Mike Rowe talking the other day about how there are 3 million vocational jobs right now that can't be filled. These are mechanics, plumbers, truck drivers etc. These are all jobs that pay well, but we have a strange education gap right now. When the recession hit people either just went into retail or lower paying jobs or to college. For some reason they stopped going to tech school. Caterpillar Corp will basically blow you to come work for them if you are big equipment mechanic.

Where are these Caterpillar Corp jobs?

I don't know about your area but mechanics around here don't get paid very well. $15/hr. tops.

I'd gladly go work for Cat. They usually pay damn good and great benefits. But they're not exactly blowing people to come work for them around here.

1) How many people does it take to drive 50,000 trucks?
2) How many people does it take to maintain 50,000 trucks?

When the trucks are automated the answer to #1 becomes zero and the answer to #2 becomes a tiny fraction of what it used to be.
Really think we are far away from automating a backhoe so it can dig a ditch in a specific location?

The simpler and less creative the task, the easier it is to automate.
