Best Video/Audio Editing Software?

What do you guys recommend for video and audio software? I tried Premiere Elements 9 a couple of years ago but I had trouble with it. I remember on playback it would lag or something when you got to a certain point. Like it was in slow motion. I'm not sure what caused it.

Also, is there a way to enhance camera phone audio? I got a video that someone took with a camera phone. I want to edit the video and enhance the audio. Any tips would be appreciated.

For audio, Audacity is free and can do wonders for audio after you get to know it.

For video I use Vegas Pro 11. It's probably not "the best" but it's great for me and pretty easy to use. They have a free trial if you want to try it out. Hit me up if you need any help with it.

I like Final Cut Pro X, but lately have been using Premiere / Audition. After getting used to it, it's a much better fit for me. And I can easily move between OSX and Windows if need be.

+1. Have become a big fan of Adobe's Creative Cloud. Editing on Premiere right now.

Of course, Final Cut is the best...but the majority of users can get by with Vegas Video -- and get up and running very quickly with it.

Are you on a Mac or Windows machine? That will dictate more suitable answers.

I'm used to Pinnacle for video editing, which was very dummy-friendly. I've switched to Premiere Pro, but how the heck do I take one large video and break it up into smaller clips?

I am highly amused that people here would suggest premiere, final cut or even vegas to a guy taking video with a camera phone who cant properly run elements SMFH
