LA Model Agencies Now Out of Business

I found a list of LA adult talent agencies that I used around 2006-08. About 75% are gone now... for those who are nostalgic for the good times, here's a list of the fallen:

AFAIK, Dick didn't actually shoot videos, but he certainly banged a lot of the girls he repped as he claimed he needed to know they could do a good scene before he sent them to shoots, as it would reflect badly on him if they couldn't. When I first met him in 2000, he was getting girls' numbers on sets, and booking shoots around their agents. In 2002/03 he took the obvious, next step and started Nasty Modeling. Porn star Katie Morgan worked for him for the first few years.

Pimps are at least in some way part of this business. They find women, bring them to set, make sure they're ready to work, etc. Personally I don't care if the gentleman is a glorified pimp or business just as long as I'm not hearing rumors that he is forcing the lady to do porn in order to support his drug addiction or find other women to sleep with him.

It's the asshole that does nothing but find ways to make a dollar without ever getting directly involved in this industry that's a problem. And there's a lot of that going on these days.

As for having sex with the talent, I'm sure that 95% of the producers and agents are guilty of it. The only question is about how they went about it...
Did they promise the lady something and not deliver?
Did they pay her outright??
Or did they actually find her work like Dick did??

In my situation I always paid the lady outright. It was less than what I pay for an actual scene but I'm also not going to be screwing her for 3 hours under hot lights. On a good day I loose interest after 20 minutes.

This is porn and so if anyone wants to deal only with legitimate business then I suggest they start filling out job applications.

Dick shot for Tasteless and for another company (Heatwave?), and he'd shoot really cheap as all he really cared about was banging chicks. I paid him $100/scene for a few years before I felt guilty about it and doubled his pay. He was/is a full on sex addict... he'd fuck the girls he repped because he couldn't stop himself, even though most of the girls hated it and him, and would leave his agency as soon as they could.

Dick ended up in a big financial mess here, and disappeared back to South London as his creditors closed in. We actually grew up just a few miles from each other, though I didn't know him there. I called him on his birthday last year, and he was driving in the South of France, where he'd often go to celebrate his birthday. He seemed like he was doing fine, and I'm sure he's still enjoying life, smoking expensive cigars, and banging a lot of women.

Reb and Shane ! Because you mentioned Reb's son I think I might have heard of you. You are the gentleman that has (or had) a cardboard cut out of his cat and you film(ed) in Santa Monica.

It has been a long time since I was in the L.A. area and the last time I saw Reb (and his son). Shane did what I guess would be a 5 minute stand up comedy about you getting upset that you could not find your cat during a shoot.

It was not insulting but it did have me laughing. I have always said to be able to last in porn a person needs to be either a character in some way or a complete asshole. It is nice to say that it is always a pleasure to meet the characters in this industry.
