Best way to categorize your content?

What do you use to keep track of all the content you own?

I have a lot of content I need to categorize and I'd like to do it right from the start. Is there a piece of software you all use that's awesome for this sort of thing?

I need to start getting the basics done, such as:

- Performers
- Niches
- "Tags"
- Title
- Description

Yes. This is for internal use and will be on a internal storage - well obviously the data will be used on paysites etc - but this is for someone to start building some kind of database of the content, including license info, where it's used and the basic categorization of the content.

Right now a spreadsheet seems to not be cutting it haha (edit: at least the one I did, someone might have something advanced they want to share? )
