Out here in NY i got a Blue Cross plan for me and my brother under the corp. We pay 300 each per month, 5/ co pay for doctors

10/20/30 for prescriptions ,

Included is chirpractor visits, and reduced acupuncture and massage

like 100 a month with blue shield, includes dental. Its the plan where office visits are like $50, and that works out fine because i only go to the doctor like every ten years.

There are getting to be big delays her in canada to see a specialist, so you can go see a private clinic for some surgeries if you have the $$

big thing now is dental coverage, that is friggin expensive too

the next big thing is vets $300 to clean the dog's teeth

BCBS of GA PPO - $500 deductible, $1000 out of pocket, 80% after $500 deductible on everything (including prescrips), $20 co-pay for Dr. visits, $50 co-pay for ER - $313 per month for 41 year old female (me) and $97 for 19 year old female (son) and $117 for Plan E Medicare supplemental for my 67 year old Dad.

I have migraines and my medication is outrageous ($140 for 9 pills, and I take about 18 a month - plus throw in another $100 or so a month for other migraine crap), so I get my money's worth, but for my son, they're getting their money out of him. He's joining the USAF this spring though, so Uncle Sam will be taking care of him soon

When I was shopping around, I found out it was less expensive to get 2 individual policies than a family policy, even when my son was under 18. If money's a problem, BCBS has a hospital/surgical plan that's good. I like BCBS because they pay on time - I've NEVER had a problem with late payments to Drs/hospitals.

Mutual of Omaha just stopped writing individual health policies. This is HUGE. Health insurance and health costs are really getting out of control. If you're not really poor or really rich, you're screwed.

When I had a bad accident and was in the hospital for a few days unconsious, all my parents paid were the ambulance trip, 75bucks plus 11cents to call 911, all the trips to the hospital for my mom for her cancer and stuff, $0, when they kept her in a private room for a little over 2 months before she died, $0
all medical bills, $0 unless its some weird non covered rx.

Wow. I thought I was getting hosed paying $198/month to Kaiser Permanente here in Nor Cal... $10 co pay visits, some deals on 'scripts. But the plans most of you have are REALLY pricey.

After paying that much each month I find a reason to go! I'm always calling and getting appointments for this and that and drugs when I need 'em for whatever ails me.

Health insurance has become the only insurance that pays for standard care/repair. When you need a standard repair on your home or car, you don't file an insurance claim. But if you have a cold, or need a well baby shot for your kid, you file a claim with your health insurance.

Health insurance, IMHO, should be like every other insurance - it should be for unforeseen and out of the ordinary circumstances. The fact that it's paying for every single sneeze, shot, cough, stomach and ear ache, and normal labor and delivery is why we're paying so damn much for it.
