Last month, the rumor mill went into overdrive as reports on Morgan Freeman?s personal life started to leak to the tabloid media and on the Internet. The 72-year-old actor was said to be having a long-secret affair with his 27-year-old step granddaughter, which tore the family apart and also led to his divorce. Freeman will now make the affair legal by tying the knot with his much younger partner, the National Enquirer says (story via here).

The US tabloid was also the one to break the story of the secret affair, following months of investigation and talks with sources very close to the family. The young E?Dena Hines, with whom Freeman was seen in public a couple of times as well, reportedly did not want to get involved romantically with the actor, but she eventually succumbed to his advances and agreed to become his secret mistress. She will soon be making the move from mistress to wife, if the Enquirer is accurate in its latest report on the topic.

?The Enquirer has learned exclusively that Morgan Freeman plans to marry his step-granddaughter, family sources reveal. In our June 29 issue, we revealed that sources close to the 72-year-old actor claim that he had carried on a shocking, nearly decade-long affair with his 27-year-old step-granddaughter, E?Dena Hines. She is the granddaughter of Morgan?s first wife ? whom he and his estranged second wife Myrna raised since she was a young child.
