Why did they shut you down then? Did they give you a reason?

Google Expert 06-07-2013 07:48 PM

Just took a look at xxjay's banned tumblr blog, and it looks like he used heavy paysite ref link promotion, which is a big no-no.

Wrong. Maybe you have NSFW filter set to on, but for the rest of us searching on tumblr for shaved pussy turns up women's genitalia, not cats without fur.

I see there are two settings to mark your blog:

- NSWF
- Adult

Which setting blocks you from the search? Only Adult or both of them?

I just noticed that setting last week when I was checking my blogs settings. All of mine were set to NSFW (I guess it's the default setting? since I didn't touch it) which is interesting because most of my tumblr blogs are hardcore. I guess I'm in the lineup to get deleted now too? :(

To answer your question, the info says the Adult setting is the one that blocks your blog from SE bots.

Per Tumblr:
Quote:

Flag as NSFW
NSFW blogs may contain occasional nudity or mature/adult oriented content.
Flag as adult
Adult blogs contain substantial nudity or mature/adult oriented content.
More info here: http://www.tumblr.com/docs/en/nsfw

I said this over and over, tumblr is a good tool to build a quick network of blogs and make money, without investing any cent, BUT they will take down your site soon or late.

I used to have a big blog with lots of traffic and sales some time ago, and suddenly, they deleted it overnight because I was promoting sponsors and doing money.

The last post in the cache has 15 links, plus picture links, in a single post. Some with misleading text and url shortening. If I was Tumblr, I would look at your blog and immediately think termination.

You must be smoother than that :)

How many blogs you have in tumblr and how long have you survived so far?...

I used to have a good blog with lots of followers and traffic. Only had 1 sponsor link per post.

One day, they deleted it. I contacted support and they said that it was deleted because I was promoting adult affiliate programs. However, digging more into it, the problem was not "adult", the problem for them was that I was doing money with it.

Yahoo is gonna kill that site.

It's not Yahoo, man. At least not in this specific situation.

I had my blog deleted more 1 year ago for the same reason... I was promoting sponsors and monetizing my tumblr blogs. They have been doing it for long time.

Not wrong. Follow the link, look at the evidence.

Searches still turn up that stuff because not all hardcore content on Tumblr has been flagged as "adult" (yet) by the Tumblr process that catches that stuff. But if you self-flag as "adult" or are flagged against your will (as many have been) your stuff no longer turns up in Tumblr searches or Google.

There are conflicting reports about whether blogs flagged NSFW are being hit with the robots.txt search engine blocker. But *all* the ones flagged "adult" have been.

"Adult" does for sure. NSFW is a maybe. I don't have a NSFW-flagged tumblr so I can't check, and I've heard from people who say "yes blocked" and "no blocked". I'm assuming people are confusing the "adult" and "nsfw" statuses.

When Tumblr first started and using it in conjunction with twitter and to some degree Facebook the traffic converted very well but really now Tumblr is just a place for punters to store their daily free wank cache and the fun for them is in the building and swapping without making a penny. The other problem there is very fast growing amount of underage stuff on Tumblr which I think is going to cause real problems at some point.

Creatine 06-07-2013 11:54 PM

Tumblr really isn't worth using.
Unless if you'd like to keep having your blogs removed then feel free to waste your time.

Thumblogger was amazing while it lasted, I feel like free hosts are just not reliable enough.

sicone 06-08-2013 12:09 AM

Odd that almost every tumblr url posted in this thread has now been banned.

Well of course not every banned page was posted in here, but looking through the thread, every url posted is now banned. <Captain Obvious Says>Most likely from someone reading this thread and reporting them.</Captain Obvious Says>.

Must suck that reporting the competition is the only skill some 'webmasters' have around here. What a waste of time. Embrace your competition, watch what they do and take it a step further or add your own unique twist. It really isn't that difficult to succeed, you just need to be willing to put in the work and time.

gransonik 06-08-2013 03:39 AM

Sooo... is there any alternative to tumblr? I especially like the drag&drop blog post creation, you can pump dozens of posts in a few minutes.

It could be a good time for a talented programmer or person with $$$ to build an adult oriented tumblr copy.

Exactly. There needs to be an adult blog host with social functionality. Twan should have done that with Thumblogger.

Lichen 06-08-2013 11:12 PM

Is there any way to see if someone's blog has NSFW or Adult settings?

I see sexually explicit blogs in top of google. They are not supposed to be there is teh blog is marked as Adult.

Not sure but I think someone from Crakrevenue said they are working on something. I don't know if it is just anothet free blog host or something like tumblr were others can repost and stuff (more community oriented).

Creatine 06-10-2013 01:10 PM

So I was browsing the web in search of a nice alternative to tubmlr. A nice porn host.

I found these:
http://www.freepornhosts.com/
http://www.blogbugs.org/
http://pornlog.co/
http://www.freepornblogger.com/
http://www.pornblogr.com/

http://www.pornblogr.com/ looks very promising. I signed up to it, they have a very simple admin panel.

So far this has been my favorite one. Although the way they monetize it is with advertisements. There's an advertisement on every single blog+an advertisement in the dashboard/admin panel.

At first the advertisements really pissed it off. But as I thought about it, if these 2 advertisements can sustain the website and keep it from going down like thumblogger did then i'm completely fine with it.

It's a big pond, there is room for all of us :)
