yes, selling paysites is hard but its easier to sell free stuff like AVS or free meberships.

TheeRoly 05-31-2013 07:53 AM

I was doing like 70-100 followers a week on Tumblr before the Crak Tutorial and now I'm doing like 150+ a week. So pretty substantial I think. But I only really started last week. :thumbsup

I've had sign ups as well on Tumblr before this but they are sporadic it seems.

Lichen 05-31-2013 07:57 AM

Can someone please explain if adult content is being indexed nowadays? I read somewhere yesterday that tumblr don't index fresh adult blogs and that you need to spend some time tending and improving it before they upgrade your status. How does that work?

Fat Panda 05-31-2013 07:58 AM

yes tumblr ghosts your account initially... you need to fill in all the info, follow some blogs, like shit, reblog and make some posts

then eventually your blog will go live in their system

Is the process automatic or they enable you manually?

Yesterday someone claimed that even after 2 months of fine-tuning his blog, it still stayed ghosted.

Well you were right mate, lost a big tumblr blog today, thousands of fucking followers, updated by hand, thousands of posts - ufcking shits me to tears.

Feel like setting up 10,000 blogs and firing 16billion posts into them every day just to make these fuckers have to waste more of their time deleting accounts. I'm not going to add anything by hand again, going to write a script now to auto post. Got something like 1500 posts I backed up from one blog.

Colmike9 06-04-2013 02:42 PM

Working with Tumblr is like making hundreds of blogs on Thumblogger right before the crash constantly..

SGS 06-04-2013 02:53 PM

You can't look at Tumblr as a long term investment of your time unless you seriously have nothing better to do. If you are running Tumblr to push sales, joins, whatever then put your effort into ten or so and then just build to replace when deleted. Personally I don't see porn on Tumblr as a long term option as its bound to be cleaned up at some point.

We have used Tumblr from day one and we have found that hardcore builds faster but clever softcore tease converts LOADS better. Loads of people have poured onto Tumblr but like most things in adult very few have a fucking clue what they are doing.

Colmike9 06-04-2013 03:15 PM

Is there a good adult equivalent to it in terms of traffic?..

That would be nice wouldn't it?

The problem with adult only type setups is the mainstream crowd does not get a sniff of it. That is the beauty of tumblr, porn is mixed in with the mainstream without getting slapped on the ass...

georgeyw 06-04-2013 03:30 PM

Any good tumblr clone scripts about?

ZombieMovies 06-04-2013 03:49 PM

CrakRevenue was pretty bad for me, honestly. I had a tumblr account with over 15,000 followers and was luuuuucky to get 1 sign up a day. Lots of hits, almost no sign ups. I wound up closing my account with them. Hope it's better for everyone else though!

Hey there,
I'm curious to see how your tumblr page was setup and what you were promoting on it (and how). Hit me up (using the info in my sig) when you get the chance, I'm sure we can do better than that. Thanks!

Mine have both been growing pretty rapidly, are obviously commercial, I've had no issue...

http://filthfreaksxxx.tumblr.com/
http://pornstarplatinum.tumblr.com/ - will probably go over 1000 followers today

I also use blogger, with no issue at all...

http://filthfreaksxxx.blogspot.com/
http://pornstarplatinum.blogspot.com/ (right at 1000 followers)

I also use them to feed splogs, there is a great wordpress plugin for it...
http://wordpress.org/plugins/tumblr-importer/

It handles all the different post type perfectly if you set it up right.

LOL, I just checked. It says "Custom Theme", but I'm pretty sure it was whatever was the default at the time. Tumblr has a weird way of changing things without warning (I guess that was the gist of this thread).

If you guys want to follow, I will follow back / recip-reblog, I have an unsubstantiated theory that the bigger you are in tumblr the stronger Google will count your backlinks.

EI: Big account = strong backlinks
Small account = little no backlink effect

Does anyone do anything cool with their author page? I don't do much with mne now, but I'm sure I could be doing more.

You don't have a signature, lol!

We talked when I closed my account, unless that was a different 'Bab'... but it's really okay. I'm not ~bitter or anything, I just moved on to bigger and better things :) My promo strategies are just fine considering I make decent cash from every other program I'm affiliated with. Me and CrakRevenue were just not meant to be, I think. No worries.

Ooooh, there is only one Bab :winkwink:

Otherwise, hit me up if you want so that I can see how you work and if we can test other things together. And I have a sig now!

That's old info. Now, if your Tumblr gets flagged as adult, they put a robots.txt on there that keeps it from EVER being indexed by outside search engines. And it doesn't appear in the internal Tumblr tag searches, either. Not ever.

The change happened a couple of weeks before the Yahoo sale.

Wrong. Maybe you have NSFW filter set to on, but for the rest of us searching on tumblr for shaved pussy turns up women's genitalia, not cats without fur.

First, I would contact support and try to get them back. Even if you aren't successful, you can perhaps find out what the reason was for your blogs termination.

Second, you shouldn't look at it as hard work down the drain. Your reblogs will live on and continue to bring you traffic!

Failed 06-07-2013 11:57 AM

Looking at your cached pages of your blogs, I would bet that the reason your blogs were terminated was for misleading links and an overabundance of affiliate linking in each post.

The last post in the cache has 15 links, plus picture links, in a single post. Some with misleading text and url shortening. If I was Tumblr, I would look at your blog and immediately think termination.

You must be smoother than that :)

BSleazy 06-07-2013 11:59 AM

Probably wasn't the best idea posting your links here.

trust me, you can be as smooth as you like, if they feel like deleting your blog then they will, I've had softcore blogs with no links or advertising at all go for no reason. and good luck with getting a reply out of their support apart from their cut/paste reply, I've managed 1 single reply from a real person in all the times I've tried.

The people who say that there is a way of surviving a tumblr cull are talking bullshit, they just haven't been found yet. All anyone can do with tumblr is to spew out blogs/posts as fast as possible and hope for a few months before being found and deleted then starting again from scratch.

Spot on. But also from what I hear affiliate linking and ads on the Tumblr post itself is completely out. If they see it, it's gone.

Could it be that they linked your other clean accounts to the bad accounts they suspended so now they nuke on sight any Tumblr they find connected to you?

As mentioned above - had a big one go this week and I was pissed. Contacted support and received the following.

The kicker is, I was interacting with people, they were submitting photos, it was ACTIVE. Sure there were links to my websites, but no direct aff links. There was no javascript or misleading links, links linked to the same content that was on the image ie a gallery or video on one of my sites.

Fuck them, I would love to destroy Tumblr - worked hard to create the site and it was starting to generate really good traffic numbers too.

Quote:

Hello,
We've terminated your Tumblr account at tufkYOUTUMBLR.tumblr.com for spam or affiliate marketing. Per the policies you agreed to when creating your account, Tumblr prohibits such activity.
Don't put deceptive links or dubious code in your posts. That includes using Javascript to inject unwanted ads in blogs, or embedding links to interstitial or pop-up ad services. Don't use deceptive means to generate revenue or traffic, or create blogs with the primary purpose of affiliate marketing.
EDIT

I did ask them what changes I needed to make so that I could work within the rules of Tumblr and never received a reply.

I had no affiliate links...all of the links were direct, as I am the content owner.

Yahoo is gonna kill that site.

See that is even worse. You should contact them and say you are the content owner, what was the problem with your account.

I think your biggest mistake was posting your account here :2 cents:

possible but I have tried proxies, different bots, different emails, everything, I even tried posting using TOR and purging cookies but they always go in the end.
I still make them though, even though I know they'll be zapped in the end because the traffic is self-generating. But it's all rather soul destroying, starting again every 2 months, I recon that if my first blog was still up I'd have an easy 100k following by now.

Fat Panda 06-07-2013 04:23 PM

stop wasting your time people

Walrus 06-07-2013 06:06 PM

Seems like way too many people having a high failure rate with this to even consider giving this a try. I'd think time would be better spent learning a new skill or building on a new one such as JavaScript or Photoshop.

That being said, is there another more viable way to make money with tumblr? How about a mainstream topic that you blog about on tumblr that links to your main blog? Or would they delete anything that leads to anything with affiliate links in it?
