I loved the pics. Congratulations on the new place, it looks great. Clean and well lit (a pet peave of mine).

This new lighting is excellent. The employees love being able to see clearly. Those sodium lights have a very yellow look and it seems surreal now on the side of the shop that isn't changed.
Another thing we have started is sky lights. The first 2 of 36 are in now and it improves things even more.

Sky lights that's very cool. When I worked in a factory, it was like working in a dungeon. No natural light.

I don't that feel in the plant. You had no idea what was happening outside.

When we built the last plant that we moved out of I had the designer put 4'x4' clear glass windows every 30' on three sides of the building towards the top. It lets people see what it's doing outside but not what's going on at street level.

That's really nice. The plant in tarrytown for GM, was very old, very dark and hot. I worked in the bodyshop, building the body for Pontiac 6000 and the Buick century. When I first walked in, it was like walking into the pits of hell. lol It was hard work but it was a fun place to work.

Same thing when negotiating deals for cars, the higher end the car the higher end the offices should be.

Sam Walton was the richest man in the world and he had old paneling in his office. But he also sold cheap stuff so maybe it worked out.

i recall one- john thain, ceo of merril-lynch spent 1.5m redecorating his office while laying off 1000s of employees.

i couldn't care less if m-l let him blow that much, but i would note that as a reason to not do biz with them.

but extravagant spending whilst laying off employees, that's wrong & certainly deserves complaining.
