Same thing when negotiating deals for cars, the higher end the car the higher end the offices should be.

i recall one- john thain, ceo of merril-lynch spent 1.5m redecorating his office while laying off 1000s of employees.
i couldn't care less if m-l let him blow that much, but i would note that as a reason to not do biz with them.
but extravagant spending whilst laying off employees, that's wrong & certainly deserves complaining.
