I know you guys will probably attack me for this, but I gotta say that Adele has one of the best voices I've heard in a long time, it's truly amazing and as far as her looks, for me, a woman's eyes and beauty are the first thing that stand out, if they're a little chunkier, I can live with it. On that note, I think she's pretty damn sexy and I'd be all over her if I had the chance ;)

Shirley Bassey was amazing. I am sure the American friends I was with had no idea why I was excited when she came on but they understood by the end.

Adele has a good voice and her songs are perfectly tailored to it. I am not a big fan of her songs but I have heard her sing live and that swung me around to understand why she became a big deal. On top of which, she tapped into a void which was music for women to cry to - break up and PMS music.

Add in the fact that she is not thin and you have somebody the common girl (and her speaking voice really is very common..love it) relates to and hence buys.

Guys bitching about it, just reenforces that. She has had the top selling album for two years in a row. The same album. She is marketed brilliantly.
