Ready Rig
Just ordered one of these bad boys. I'm now using only my Canon 5d MKiii for both vid and pics.
I have a kino ring light on it (with heavy ballast) and a big ass EF 24-70 lens along with a SmallHD monitor and an external microphone. At the moment I have it all mounted on a SHAPE Paparazzi Pro rig. And the whole thing weighs in at about 10 to 11 pounds. It's KILLING me to hold that, keep stable, try to pull focus, etc. while shooting a scene (which can take an hour and half to 2 hours with stills and vid) But check out this bad boy: http://www.albacamerasupport.com/ The Ready Rig really looks like it's the answer to what I need. It will arrive on Friday Feb. 8th. Watch the 2nd video on the page where he demonstrates all the things it can do. |

They know there will be thousands hanging off the end of it and it needs to be at a price where you perceive it to be a quality item. Nobody is going to risk a $200 version snapping and dropping their camera.

Got the Ready Rig on Friday. Been playing with it all weekend and shot some footage using it last night.
Worth every penny! Holding my heavy camera gear manually was really limiting me to what I could and couldn't do. The rig is to heavy to be able to hold with one hand and pull focus or tweak adjustments. I tried a "normal" shoulder mount...after about 15 minutes it felt like my lower back was on fire. But the Ready Rig is just amazing. The set up is PERFECT for you camera and rig accessories (monitor, microphone, ring light, ballast, etc) And last night I put it on with the full rig attached. Walked around with it on for about an hour and then shot some footage for another 30 minutes. No stress or strain at all. I felt fresh and could have shot for hours with this thing! |
