While I'm not a huge fan of the style, you usually can't go wrong with an Ibanez. That's their Steve Vai model, right? I bet it sounds and plays amazing!

Steve Vai seems to like them. If you cant trust Satan from Crossroads to pick a good guitar who can you trust?

I just picked up my latest addition to the family on Ebay Cant wait till it gets here, first time I've bought a guitar without playing it, not an Ibanez but looks pretty sweet.

I just watched Crossroads again a few weeks ago. Great movie!

I never thought I could buy a guitar without playing it first. Turns out I was wrong. I added 4new ones to my collection in the last 6 weeks. All from Sam Ash.com. All of them came in perfectly, set up great and ready to play. This Ibanez will come from them too.

edit..that 12st you bought looks amazing! Nice purchase.

I really love the look of the Ibanez RG2EX2. It's a fairly inexpensive guitar (around $400.00) but plays great and sounds awesome.

That'll probably be my next musical purchase.

I've never seen a Marshall mini stack like that before. Very cool! I bet it sounds awesome. Marshall makes some kick-ass gear. Sweet Jackson, too. I've only played a few Jackson's over the years but they've all played great.

(In summation: I'm jealous!)

Sam Ash.com has a big selection of Marshall. They do have that mini-stack featured

Just checked it out. Very cool and reasonably priced as well. Kind of wish I had got one of those instead of my little Fender. Doh!

It plays nicely, the wizard neck is super thin and easy to use, the locking trem is great.

But, it is really fucking horribly 80s looking to me. Design is subjective though.

i owned one. It is overpriced. You pay the signature and the Elvis presley look. Unless you want THAT look and/or are a huge fan off VAI, i would recommend you give a try to the ibanez prestige series. I also own a M3550, way better than the JEM.

The good JEM guitars were made in the 90's.

And if you are looking for something cheap, with great finish, made for shredding, take a look at the GODIN redline series. Just got one for travel purpose and i'm in love with it.

Minte...
I've owned a lot of Ibanez guitars. Never had the Steve Vai JEM model.. But having owned a lot of their Basswood guitars I can tell you that my Ibanez Prestige RG 2020 is the best sounding Ibanez guitar I've ever played (has a mahogany body).

Of course the FIRST thing you have to do is get rid of the Ibanez pickups. And yes, the includes the Ibanez "Evolution" pickups on that JEM guitar.

I put in Seymour Duncan JB pickups. you can't go wrong.

Second thing you HAVE to do is take the tiny little pot metal bridge block off and throw it away. Replace it with a fat brass block http://www.fu-tone.com/catalog/index...ls3c2pdcc8nmd2

Those two things will bring that guitar from sounding like a tiny mosquito to being a fat, warm MONSTER.

I own a ton of guitars.
My favorite one right now is my Fender Custom Shop Jeff Beck Signature Strat. I put little JB's in for pickups and replaced the Fender trem block with a big steel Callaham block. The guitar is just AMAZING.

If you're ever in Vegas let me know.

Those are some good tips. I will take a look at these options when the jem arrives.
Thanks

Next time I am in Vegas I'll get in touch.

It's 8:00 am and I'm drinking beer and playing guitar (poorly). I either win at life or fail miserably. I haven't decided which yet.

Personally, I'm a huge PRS fan. Actually, they recently started making acoustics also, I played one last week and it sounded really really good.

This 513 is the next buy on the list. In this color.

That depends...did you wake up at 8 a.m. and start playing guitar and drinking beer? You might be a loser.

OR...did you stay up all night long partying with a roomful of whores and you're still awake at 8 a.m. drinking beer and playing guitar? WINNER!
