Need help choosing a Digital Camera.

I want to buy my dad a digital camera for his bday but dunno which one to get. I want to get him one that is small, lightweight and looks nice. The camera does not have to take SUPER HIQH QULAITY pictures, just big enough to be regular sized fotos.

What are some of the new nice looking cameras and where can i buy them?

I highly recommend anything in the nikon line of cameras. Good quality, good pricing, excellent warrenties. You can find them at places like Wolf Camera . You can find more information on Nikon equipment at www.nikonusa.com .

depends on how much money you want to spend. But defenitely choose CANON product. My recommendation is D1s - but it is fucking expensive camera. If you just started with shooting then go to D60 - great results and great price

I have a canon elph s330 and I love it! I had a big ass Kodak before that. This canon takes great shots, very quick. Perfect for snapshots. My Canon is so light and small I always keep it in my purse. A major issue I have with digital cameras is the time it takes for the camera to reset after the last shot .. Sony seems to be the worst! Canon seems to be one of the best out there, as well as Nikon.

I have an Olympus D460Z, C-3000, and C-4000.
The 460Z is great for non-professional shooters who primarily take pics in good lighting conditions and don't have shaky hands or are taking pics of still things. It takes nice panoramic pics and 'stitches' them together with the provided software.

The C-3000 and C-4000 absolutely rock. You can buy them at *very* low prices on eBay. Good in any lighting condition, come with a bevy of setting choices *or* manual if he's used to doing things himself, will take good pictures in nearly any lighting condition and it doesn't matter if his hands shake or if the photo subject is moving.
All three of these cameras use NORMAL batteries, which is a big plus. You can get rechargeables and never have to worry. They also have all kinds of lenses available. They also use normal Smart Media cards, not special "manufacturer only" memory sticks that cost an arm and a leg.
The C-3000 download method involves firing up the included software and downloading through that. (Can be slow at times.)
The C-4000 download method involves hooking it up to the computer and accessing the camera as a different drive - very fast and convenient. Simply cut/copy the pics and paste 'em wherever you want like any other computer file.
The C-3000 has a remote control, the C-4000 does not.

Definitely do a side-by-side comparison of any camera you're considering on www.dpreview.com - that site is the best place to compare cameras.

This is imho the best digital camera review site there is, Steve rips em apart. Some of his reviews are 8 pages long with tons of pics. Read up on any cam you are interested in before you buy
