    Tips & Advice for a Total Newbie?

    So I've spent the better part of this week trying to take in as much information as possible from GFY and what all of you have posted. Not only are you quite an entertaining bunch, you are all a wealth of information, as well! I'm hoping you can help steer me in the right direction so I can start my foray into the adult world on the right foot.

    1. So I need to start off as a CamGirl, and from my research, I've learned that I need an external webcam - not just my laptop's built in one. Is the Logitech Pro 9000 still a good one to purchase and use as my cam? I'm also on a budget here so can't get too wild & crazy with this purchase, but something to get things rolling with and then I can upgrade later if need be.

    2. Once I get the external cam, what site should I join to begin broadcasting? I started 2013 laid off and my savings will only last me one more month of rent, so I need to start bringing in some $$$ quickly! [If any sites/their audience prefer a certain look, I'm a total Mediterranean mutt (Italian/Greek/Persian/French - speak all the languages too), petite (4'11" + 118lbs), and curvy (my av is me)]

    3. I've read online to not go with a studio and work directly with the cam sites that are already out there since the cut is the same. Any truth to this? Or any great reason to go with a studio that I might be missing?

    4. While I'm venturing into this world, I want to use my brain and entrepreneurial drive to start my own website and not just rely on my cam profile. That way I can increase my presence on the net and hopefully that will translate into more money for me. I already know the basic principles of design and HTML, but can anyone recommend where I can get up to speed on search engine optimization?

    If anyone has any additional tips/advice, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks to everyone on here in advance for any guidance you can provide!

                      beaner, I'm assuming by your response that a lot of guys try to get their girlfriends to do this? I'm not anyone's girlfriend, though... and sadly, due to a crazy work life, I've been single AND celibate for 2+ years now. FML

                      but, when you ask for 20 videos that are 10 minutes or longer, can they be of just me? or would this require finding a guy as well?

                                                      I'm not quite sure why you are saying this, but based on the different forums that I've been reviewing over the past week, in particular one where models/CamGirls frequent and this one, GFY clearly has the more savvy user base. I figure if I'm going to go the adult route to bring in some much needed money, which is a big risk and not one that my father would ever support should he find out, I don't want to half-ass it and at least put some thought into doing it and doing it right/well.

                                                                          If you are genuine then don't worry about the welcome - If you cant handle this then get out now and spare yourself years of heartache.

                                                                          As a cam girl you will get WAY worse. If you do stick around filter out the BS and ignore it - There have been a couple of good posts here for you already.

I really am a girl and I find it pretty crazy that guys would come on here to set their girls up for something like this. Maybe it's because I'm a little older, but if I didn't come up with this idea on my own and a guy that I was with suggested it, I would hurt him and tell him to put himself to work online or as an escort. So I'll assume that you're a girl, here's some advice. And if it you're not, well... it still can be useful.

                                                                                                                                              Seeing that you're doing research first, and planning it as a business, I think you're already ahead of most of the cam girls.

                                                                                                                                              Most of the cam girls probably are brought into this scene by someone else, like a studio. They'll be told tips, which might help them to start off. But ultimately, I think, you have better chances to make a lot of money in the long run, because you're genuinely interested in doing this, and in doing a good job. I think this, and the "X-factor" are the important things to succeed.

                                                                                                                                              Someone advised to take a look at forums/sites where cam girls discuss stuff among themselves - I think that's a great advice, I was going to give you the same.

                                                                                                                                              One last thing - while many websites ban this kind of thing - to my knowledge, most cam girls are online on multiple websites at the same time. But then again, they often have a partner typing for them as well, to be able to handle all websites at the same time. I don't know the technical details.

I don't think they are mac compatible though.
