But how much of it is practical? Most of the ones I see, the bitches buy like 500 bottles of dish soap, 1000 sponges, 300 cans of peaches....etc. They have so much shit they'll never touch. They get it because it costs them pennies of the retail price. But if it has no practical use, it's an unnecessary purchase. They won't turn around and sell the shit for a profit on craigslist or ebay, because, heaven forbid, it would deplete their stockpile. Instead they sit on thousands of items of shit that will never get used, all because they got a good deal on it. But any penny you spend on something you won't use is a wasted penny.

What you do is sell the surplus at garage sales, flea markets and the like. You also donate it to charity and goodwill and take the tax break. You could make your house payment with coupon money and why not? It's hard work though, so that's why not many people do it.

They aired an Xmas episode where one lady specifically went shopping for a local food bank. But that was ONE woman. The rest flip a fucking lid if you touch their stockpile. That's because 90% of the coupons issued are for processed food items high in sugar, sodium and fat. Also, only a few US states have grocery stores now that accept multiple like coupons on a single order, which is the only way a couponer can have triple digit savings. Those grocery stores tend to be in lower income areas where obesity rates are higher.

I haven't seen the show in years, but I'm just speaking from personal knowledge. If you check some of the big coupon sites and forums you may see people talking about how they make a killing setting up sales. 100 free dish soaps selling for a buck each.. easy money.

I would think the objective is to give incentive to new customer to try out their products, not to unload boxes full of stuff for pennies on the dollar... and you only really get great deals when you use multiple coupons per product, and that's borderline fraud....

My friend told me about a recent deal where CVS was giving $10 in "extrabucks" (money you can spend in CVS on most items) for any 2 Conair products bought at the same time. She found some Conair curling irons on clearance marked down from $9.99 to $2.49 each. So she spent $5 and got $10 back. Not only that, but she'll now sell those curling irons at a flea market for $5 each and she always sells well. That's NOT a good deal? It's an amazing deal. She doesn't need 2 curling irons, but now she can spend that $10 in store money on things like milk and bread that never have coupons and she'll use. PLUS make money on the products she'll get rid of in a flea market or garage sale. This is a very common type of deal too. Most people are too lazy to do this shit.

Rite Aid has their own form of store money, and so does Walgreens.

Also, yes it would be fraud to use 2 or more manufacturers coupons on 1 transaction, but you OFTEN can use 1 manuf. plus 1 store coupon on a single item. The manufacturer pays the stores when they move the product, so it's not like the store is out any money.

Many manuf. coupons will be "good on any size" of product. This is where you can get items for only sales tax or even free depending on your store and your state laws. Get a coupon like that, go shop on your stores "double coupon" day, and get trial sizes for free. Cart loads. This is how it works. It's more like a full time job than a hobby if you ask me.. I asked my friend and she said each shopping trip takes her about 2 hours of planning ahead of time.

There are many coupons that have that printed on them. There are also many stores who simply will not honor these massive coupon redeemers. They have to call ahead and often make arrangements to get the products they want and make certain that the store will honor them. In order to pull it off you have to use multiple coupons in very specific orders or it doesn't work. That is why many of these people will end up with 80-120 or more individual transactions in one visit and it cane take them hours just to check out.

More and more stores are no longer doing this so it is getting harder and harder to do.
