The shooters guns where his moms?

CNN reported that the shooters guys where registered to his mom?
A law enforcement official familiar with the investigation says the three guns found at the shooting site were legally purchased by Nancy Lanza, the mother of the suspect in the shooting.
According to the law enforcement official, the Glock and Sig Sauer handguns were found inside the school with the deceased gunman. The Bushmaster was found in a car outside the school. The official did not know if the car was registered to the gunman, to his mother or to someone else.

That's what I heard as well. He probably took them after he killed her at her home.

That generally sums up the "registered owners" argument that gun proponents always use.

Someone who would not pass a background check will eventually get a gun, whether they borrow from a family member or steal it. Where do most criminal black market guns originate from? I would guess registered owners, because gun factories are probably not shipping them to the streets -- but that would be a whole other thing the conspiracy nuts could address.

I've been a gun owner in the past, and would hope to be again in the future. But it's difficult to not see it should be much, much harder to get a gun, at the very least.

The Bushmaster .223 found at the scene is a semi automatic weapon, the source says. Two other weapons found were handguns, a Sig-Sauer and a Glock.

A bushmaster .223 is basically an AR-15.

On the news when I first heard about this, the reporter was saying it was a .22 caliber-- then I thought maybe that many people didn't get killed. While a 22 will fuck your day up, you have a good chance of surviving that.

Technically, a .223 is a 22 caliber, but with about 10 times the powder load, and the bullet tumbles and bounces around inside the target, rather than going through like a 7.62mm Ak47 round would.

So the high death toll made more sense to me once I saw that it was an AR15.

I can't imagine how scary that was for the kids. I had my own Ar15 years ago, and you can't appreciate how loud that round is if you only hear guns in the movies.

lol, so this shooter wisely left the ar-15 copy in the car, thus avoiding the jamming problem...

here i was thinking maybe the bushmaster was less likely to jam than the armalite.

Yeah, but the .223 was in the car. They only found handguns used in the school.

Just a god awful tragedy. It could have been insane if he brought a .223 into the school (I have a SCAR in a .223, and its a MEAN son of a bitch), and thank God he didn't have .308. With a .223, when you shoot a person, you still need to make sure you got a kill shot. If you hit someone with a .308, you can just walk away, because its over.

Proof that banning guns won't work. We need to ban moms.

Just saw a pic on the news representing the guns found. A glock and Sig 9mm, a.223 ar15 rifle -- and the guns found in the school...2 Desert Eagles. Which are either .44 magnum or .50 caliber. Devastating weapons.

Yes I seen that as well. I stand corrected as earlier reports stated otherwise.

early reports often turn out to be incorrect, you just brought the information as you found it. early reports on something as confusing as a shooting or attack tend to be particularly full of errors.

they did say one gun was left in the car.

the mother was clearly well-to-do. the evening news just said she was concerned about defending herself during an economic collapse.

so, in this case, the bushmaster did not jam. it sounds like he may have ran thru quite a few magazines, as each child was described as having multiple gsw by the medical examiner.

the medical examiner said each child (from the classroom of the killers mother) was shot 3-6 times using the AR.
police and investigators all had to have psycho counseling to deal with what they saw and witnessed that day...

Todays evening news soundbyte was that the gun left in the car was a combat shotgun "with a drum type magazine".

Lanza was a pussy - shot himself as seen as he saw cops. ran away and shot himself, lol.

This shooting, btw, also fits the breivik 2083 model. breivik shot up an isolated island full of helpless kids of his enemies.

The mother had a $240,000 a year alimony and child support deal with her husband, who made $445k at GE. It was about to go up to $289K a year. And she got their house.

So presumably she could have afforded nearly any kind of psychological care.

It's really too bad the kid destroyed his hard drive.

Most likely because he wanted to kill himself and not let someone else do it.

That's what I'm hearing, that she was a prepper. Her ex-husband and father of the psycho is a VP at GE Capital, who would know where this economy is heading, maybe he suggested to her that we're going to have a total economic collapse.

If the husband made 445K, after taxes that would leave him with 300K - so he's left with 60K?!?!

I noted that myself - an inconsistency. I assume he has other income, capital gains, bonuses, that kind of thing, and the reporter just found the official salary figure.

Supposedly he married again, a librarian, and has another home with her.

i read that he made over 1 mil per year. their home was worth 1.6 mil. she was called a 'gun enthusiast and a 'survivalist' but who knows how much of that is exaggerated.

The bushmaster AR-15 clone. Which did not jam. Medical examiner claimed all the deaths he personally examined were caused by that weapon.

He was a banker, a VP of GE's financial services, so a mil a year might be an underestimate. Bankers (at that scale and in that sector, financiers) make the bulk of their income thru bonuses for performance.

Well your average stay at home mom whom lives off her ex's alimony check, usually doesn't have 4 or 5 guns at home with 2 of them being assault rifles. I'd say that would tend to classify one as a "gun enthusiast".

The survivalist part came from her next door neighbor whom is the one that said that.

there is a lot of attention on the lack of mental care in America, was this psycho certified mental?
i heard him described as a loner at school, but no where have i seen him noted as being "under psych treatment", am i missing anything?
(no doubt he should have had treatment though)

I have not seen any clear statements about that yet. I expect we may see something on it soon.

He has been described as having aspergers syndrome, which is not typically associated with delusion or paranoia.

Technically, there is no reason to call him "psycho certified mental".

I dont see much reason to think this has anything to do with any form of clinically recognized insanity.

Our society often decides to call people crazy, especially when they do something politically and socially unpopular or offensive, when there is no real reason to do so.

Violence and killing are not in and of themselves "crazy".

I'm sure it's comforting to call someone like this crazy, tho. Understandable emotional self-defense.

I think this was a political statement, on the kids part. Inspired in part by Glen Beck and prepping hysteria, and in part by typical young male loser rage.
