He didn't break the sound barrier and pulled the shoot too early but was still amazing when he was spinning the was crazy
|
And now - the views from his suit cams - coming to a Redbull pay-per-view near you? :winkwink:

Simply Amazing!
|
that was Joe Kittinger talking to him all the time? if so what a wonderful thing that 53 years later he could be part of this and in good shape.

That was truly insane! They cut once when he was spinning out of control, but went right back.
Is it official that he didn't break the sound barrier, and missed the free fall record? It did look like he pulled the chute a little early. |

In space, you could break the sound barrier easily if you traveled only with your cars speed at earth, but opposite it would be harder to reach the speed in space if you want to break the sound barrier undersea. Sure, Mach 1 is what "the" is compared to here, but sound barrier is always relative to the environment you're in. Just like pressure, energy and your fluids boiling point :upsidedow |

Thumbs up to the man who needs no parachute...Kinda. :thumbsup

IMO it was more ballsy when Kittinger jumped, but with that said, Felix's jump was ballsy as well. Exciting to watch and cool to see Kittinger with him there on the mic.
|
I'm sure I read 720mph maybe more at one point.
He didn't get the freefall record though, he done about 4:20 and think the record was 4:40 or more. But he reached much higher speed that's for sure! I remember watching a program during the week about this and they said it might be more difficult because he would be travelling much faster than kittinger thus making the higher jump, shorter in effect. If that was wrong then maybe he pulled it early because he couldn't see, he said his visor was fogging up. I would have pulled it aswell if I couldn't see lol (as if I'd ever do what this guy did! He's amazing!). I hate wearing sunglass or goggles with a bit of fog on them :1orglaugh Totally amazing to watch! |
start good but the rest was boring as a deers shit

Joseph Kittinger's 4 minutes, 36 second record from 1960 still stands.
