There must be a way to do this right?

On one of my computers i want to make my new ssd drive the Windows drive but besides the Windows software on the computer i have no original cd. And i refuse to buy another Windows copy. So i need a way to transfer windows to my ssd drive and make it bootable.

Any help is appreciated.

Acronis.com should be able to copy sector by sector.

Great, just 750 euros. That's obviously better than buying a new Windows cd.

Start > Backup and restore

Create a system image

created it on the SSD

swap drives

(SSD must be bigger in size then original drive or it won't work, it it's smaller you need to use partition magic to unallocate the extra space to make the SSD "bigger")

isn't there a way to do this without messing with the harddrives?

Tried to do the same this weekend and it failed don't know why.. afterall i managed to clone the drive with an intel software which comes with a new ssd

basically you need to free up as much space as you can on your system drive. then you need to defragment it so you can shrink it down below the size of your ssd (you can do the shrinking via computer management tool which is under control panel>administrative tools).. then clone it somehow and swap the drives

no,

start > type: diskmgmt.msc

left click on the old harddrive, shrink volume, enter your #, and it's done.

I run windows on an 80G ssd... windows takes about 45G

that's doable.. but i have programs installed on C aswell.. got a new 180gb intel ssd. also it is good to have 10-20% free on your ssd, otherwise it will run slower (at least this is what i heard)
