Hot Tub Owners...Little Help?

I have a hot tub that I haven't used in about 5 years and I'd like to get it going again. I've kept it covered and the water chlorinated, but of course there's plenty dirt & gunk in the tub.

Any good tips/tutorials on what I need to do?

thanks!

Well I've figured those are the basics.

I've seen a recommendation to use something like System Flush before draining http://www.olympichottubestore.com/spasyfl1pt.html.

Also, what about chemicals to use after refilling? I'd to get away from chlorine if I can.

Mine is made out of concrete and covered in plaster... I'm assuming yours is fiberglass? Or is it concrete as well?

I wanted to get away from chlorine, my pool guy is supposed to be getting back to me about a saltwater system.

Mine will seat about 18 people.

Check into a saltwater system. It doesnt totally get rid of needing chlorine, but you will only need about 10% as much.

You'll want to flush out all the lines and filter areas after you drain the tub.

You may also consider removing and cleaning the heater and pump, make sure the pump is free and not gunked up or seized.

Sitting for 5 years with the same water? That's not good. You should have drained it years ago.

Start by doing that.
