iPhone videos within password protected members area problem - GoFuckYourself.com

Is there an issue with iphones playing videos within an htaccess password protected area?

I have iphone format MP4 videos, they play fine outside the members area but nobody can play them inside the members area.

anybody have any info/advice?

Add this line to your .htaccess file:

AddType video/mp4 mp4

I think that should solve the problem.

not using Wowza

AddType video/mp4 mp4 didn't work - the videos aren't stored in the .htaccess protected members directory, the links to them are from the .htaccess protected members directory.

maybe i need to put that directive in an htaccess file inside the content directory?

I have my files in a .htaccess protected members directory and I was having the exact same problem as you.

Here is the complete .htaacess file that I am using:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^content/.*$ - [PT]
AddType video/mp4 mp4

Where "content/" is path to your content folder of course. I have this .htaccess file in my members directory and my files are stored in members/content.

I am not sure but I guess you could try putting these lines in both of your .htaccess files and see if it works. It cant break anything as far as I know.

been having a fucking nightmare with this as well - thanks donnie gonna try that. Actually I don't have an ipad/phone/mac so if anyone has one and can test the vids in my members area on those devices I'd be very grateful

Just don't forget to add:

AddType video/mp4 mp4

I am actually having the same problem with .3gp files and same solution is working there as well. I just add

AddType video/3gp 3gp

I don't think you need the full URL. I don't have it anyway and it is working.

Security can cause this issue, proxypass was preventing vids playing on mobiles for us, we had to get an upgrade from proxigence to get around the problem, so if you have extra security start there.

hmm. htaccess didnt fix it - I have strongbox but the hana flvplayer itself isn't loading on ipad/phone/etc - any ideas on what that issue might be? Player & vids load fine on both a PC and android device (sorry to kinda hijack Mutt, I'll try not to get in the way too much).
