So what is it with Republicans?

Why is it that Republicans hate equality, fairness, justice, human beings in general, sex, and so on?

I mean WHY?

How are these partisan issues? Why are people so surprised at the lizard-people conspiracies?

How do you explain their plain anti-human insanity?

How?
Why?
WTF?

So what is it with people who think Dems and Repubs are different from each other?

They always think Republicans are somehow different than Democrats and vice versa.

Well maybe your Dems are more hypocritical than Republicans?

Republicans are right out in the open about their hate for humanity.

But I always thought of Jefferson and other American thinkers and scholars as great men, who were founders of the Republic, who WERE Republicans...

This sick shit with Romney, Rubio, Rice etc... is just so turning me off of the whole Declaration of the Rights of Man written over 200 years ago...

I mean think of it. One of your presidents, for example, was once Thomas Jefferson. Now forget comparing him to Reagan or Bush... just imagine having to compare him to Mitt Romney lol.

Ohmygod it's a descension to madness....

Fuck.

Canadians should really not try to wrap their minds around US politics; it really seems like it is a strain. The fact that you think you can sum it up with "Republicans hate equality, fairness, justice, human beings in general" proves you don't know shit.

Thomas Jefferson is a weird person to bring up when speaking of equality.

... but its true!

Mitt Romney, Boener, Cantor, and all of them other folk, seem to want :

- Make abortion a high crime
- to make it harder for Black people and other democrats to vote
- Reduce funding for schools (are they trying to keep everyone stupid?)
- Destroy the economy just because they don't like Obama
- Destroy democracy giving power to billionaires to change government
- Get ride of the EPA +
- Remove regulations from Oil and Gas companies +
- Control the media (Faux News)

Etc etc etc.

There is a BIG difference between Democrats and Republicans Baddog. If you don't see it you are not thinking with a critical mind. That fucking lying pussy Romney can't breathe a single breath without spewing some lie. Today that asshole got caught lying about Bain Capital and he want on ever station he could to try to clear it up, but lied again. What a cock he is.

I can't wait for the debates. Obama will humiliate him on stage, but then again so could a 10 year old. I'll bet ol' Willard tries to weasel out of attending any debate.

Look, if me and you were together it would be cool to discuss politics.

To say I shouldn't try to wrap my my mind around your politics is not fair.

Your saying "it is a strain" doesn't make sense to me, really. And yes I admit my statements about "Republicans hate equality, fairness, justice, human beings in general" were exagerated and meant to bring about a reaction.

I do hate Romney, and what Obama has become... and the prospect of every other possible nominee there is in your country.

I DO like Ron Paul, and he's about my only "prospect" other than someone like Willie Nelson or Johnny Cash running your country lol.

But it seems to me like no matter who's elected, it will always be the military or DHS or whoever that will really make policy....

:D

We are fucked, let there be no doubt about it; but to think Obama is the answer or Republicans are evil is inane. That being said, Paul is not the answer either.

I suggest a mass write in campaign for me, and give me 18 months.

Well I'll never agree with all of Paul's platform. But I think he is smart enough to learn from mistakes.
I don't think Obama is/was the answer. And I still think that top-level Republicans are either insane or evil..

the repubs were not always as extremist as they are today. Mitt romney is a good example. when he was a massachussetts governor, he was a moderate. He invented obamacare, was pro-choice. Now, because he will say anything to get elected, he shifted far right to gain favor with the party. He got the nom, but he never really had majority support from the base. the base just couldnt coalesce around a credible alternative to him.

the bush administration was the beginning of a massive purge inside the republican party. all the leadership positions in congress & in the white house were filled with evangelicals. In addition, the fox news channel gained prominance as a torch carrier for far right idealogy, & that channel despises moderate repubs.

When the swing states got mad at how the evangelicals & neocons fucked shit up, moderate repubs were the ones that took it in the ass in 06 & 08, & now all thats left are the ones who never lose because their constituents are loons.

yeah...

Why are Americans surprised that Canadians don't 'get' Republicans? The right wing of Canadian politics is pretty much where Obama and the Clintons are. There are very few true conservatives in Canada. If you even mention a two tier medical system in Canada you'll get called horrible names.

Canadians are happy with their third world universal healthcare system - where a visit to the ER turns into a never ending nightmare, where there are shortages of beds in many cities, shortages of specialists in many places, rationing of treatments, long waits for diagnostic tests, surgery, and on and on

I am a Canadian and I am also stunned at what is going on in the states. But I am not stunned at Romney says this or does that. I am not stunned at any politician in particular. I am stunned that people there keep voting in the same politicians, at every level, who are are taking them down the same path as Greece.

I am also stunned at Canadians who are doing the same thing here at home, especially in Quebec and Ontario.

A quote from Benjamin Franklin sums it up best:
"When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic."

I'm american, you can debate it with me.

Go ahead and describe what you think republicans are for and against and lets take a look at that.

OP engaged in hyperbole, but it's completely recognizable hyperbole, everyone reading it knows more or less what he meant.

You recognized it well enough to object - because, presumably, it stung enough to activate your defenses.

Otherwise you would have not bothered to object to a canadian's ranting.

OP articlulated the dynamic poorly. I expect it can be more accurately, and more cuttingly, defined.

I think ********** and Mediaguy sit around their office all day watching MSNBC. Generalizing all republicans with this statement, "Why is it that Republicans hate equality, fairness, justice, human beings in general, sex, and so on?" is just ignorant.

Bingo, right on the money. I've just never understood the fascination the Canadians on this board have with US politics. I could count on one hand the number of threads started over the last decade on this board regarding Canadian politics, yet its amazing how many of the US political threads get started by Canadians.

I was eating with my in-laws recently, and tried hard not to get into a political discussion with my father-in-law -- who kept saying "obama is against business, and is a socialist and a muslim" and other propaganda straight from the FOX news playbook. Most Republicans are just programmed puppets, no different than liberals.

I don't consider myself either side, but Obama is far from being a socialist.

I wonder if when all of the current "old white people" die, will there be a new crop of old white people to take their place. Will the young people of today someday become the next crotchety, old people with old-ass ideas to carry the torch? The next batch has to be more progressive, at least by a little.

it really was the bush administration that drove (at least in the northeast) moderate republicans to change their affiliation to independent. i know a couple personal buddies, just like me, wanting social responsibility in combination with fiscal prudence. No moderate repub wants to be associated with what the repubs been doing last decade. its disgusting.

thats why i blame W & not reagan for the state of the party today. but yeah, its just karma being built by decades of deregulation, 15% taxes for the top 1%, needless war, & runaway debt, all under republican leadership.

We are not surprised that you don't get Republicans. We are surprised that you give a shit. It's almost flattering!

Translation: "I'm a right brain thinker with a right brain view of the world and I can't possibly conceive of the fact that there are left brain thinkers with a left brain view of the world and since roughly 1/2 the population of the US see's things differently than me, they must all be wrong. So I think i'll constantly shout that from the mountain tops so I feel better about my myself and my own narrow/limited world view"

Considering his statement had nothing to do with Obama and my point was to illustrate republicans are NOT conservative it is a completely appropriate choice.

The only reason you would assume I am an Obama supporter based on my chart choice would be if you also made the FALSE assumption that I am stupid enough to buy into the red/blue paradigm.

BTW... The fact that person who drew the green line on that chart thinks that bush was going to keep the debt at 0% while starting 2 wars is a testament to the power of human stupidity.

i would agree jesus. just because debt explodes under repubs doesnt mean democrats would do any better. Obama convened a balanced budget panel, then ignored it.

Keep on being good little statist servants, arguing between the differences of republicans and democrats. It's exactly what the controlling class want. Giving the masses the illusion of political party difference so they can go to the voting booth thinking they chose the "right" candidate to make a change.

Fucking laughable. JohnnyClips seems to be the only one with a clue here. Government is not the answer, never has been and never will. How some of you can consider yourself marketers and buy into such an obvious false dichotomy is odd to say the least.

That's not exactly true. I have taken my Mom to the hospital and to the doctors here lately and our experience has been the following:

- If you go to Emergency for something that is is not an emergency, yes you will wait a long time (about 6 hours has been our average. Brutal)

- If you show up for an appointment, you are in a hospital waiting room for about 45 minutes before being seen (after your scheduled appointment).

- If you need surgery (which my Mom did), they make an appointment to return to the Hospital, about 2 weeks later. I took her in the morning and by the afternoon she was out (her operation was minor). They took great care of her and took the time to explain the procedure.

- The exam included X-rays and Cat Scans.

All of the above was completely free, and was handled over the course of about 1 month from the initial visit, to the detailed example, to the surgery and release. The only thing she had to pay for were pills which comes to about $50.00 per month. My mom has no insurance. It was all paid for by Canadian Medicare.

You forgot the part about when someone has a serious medical condition in Canada, they come to the US for treatment.
