The problem with these two idiots is they don't have a fucking clue about the real world. What they don't consider is how a government take over, would take effect. It would be a popular movement, much like what happened in Germany and other places. Convince a sizeable proportion of the public, if not the majority, the new way is the best way, then take over. It's happened so many times it's amazing they didn't think of it.

The best and only way for the the majority of the public to fight the Government isn't with armed rebellion against a vastly superior fighting force. It's the way it's been done many times before. Like how the Vietnam war was stopped, Martin Luther King, Gandhi, etc. Withdraw your labour and watch the Government listen.

If there ever was this ridiculous scenario of the US going the route of Libya the only thing that will save them is the Army switching side and a massive intervention as happened in Libya. While Assad has the army on his side, the armed rebels don't stand a chance.

Even the Vietnamese haven't done so against their own Government, which even now can't match the power of the US in the 1960s. There's a huge difference between fighting (or wanting to fight) against foreign aggression and fighting against your own Government/people.

Likewise, the US Government wasn't fighting for its own survival in Vietnam, but it would be against a domestic insurgency.

The Government has everything on its side, firepower, intelligence, surveillance, propaganda. Timothy McVeigh isn't considered a patriot by most Americans, is he? A revolution wouldn't stand a chance without mass defections from the military, and even then it would be a long drawn out civil war that would take the US back to the stone age. There aren't many Americans who'd want to do that, and understandably so.

The Second Amendment has nothing to do with defending against tyranny, and everything to do with maintaining profits for gun companies.

Thinking about it in greater depth, it becomes obvious how right Scotty and Buzzard are. Because without them on guard imagine what could happen in the US.

A small minority elite could take over the Government by donating massive funds to politicians for campaigning to the public, putting on grand shows that fool the electorate into voting for their selected men. Then bribing politicians to make sure the laws they want get passed, or when a bad one slips through to look after all the citizens, people cry out against it. Usually supporting the businesses of the elite.

Then getting politicians to run up massive debts for the citizens, their children, grandchildren and maybe even their great grandchildren will have to repay. A massive slice of the debt would be used to fund wars, all supported by the hardware they supply, in countries where the elite's business need to have power or influence.

While letting the public have their toys and illusion of power.

That would never happen in the US, with the highly educated, logical and sensible armed guards looking after the people. So an elite majority don't take over the country.

Not while these guys are on guard.

The U.S. is a Democratic Republic and the Government is run by those elected to represent the people in governance and the people have access to the ear of those that have been elected to represent them 24/7 and are free to express their pleasure or displeasure of what the Government is doing. The people can replace those that represent them every 2...four...and six years...if they do not like their performance. In between those periods of time the people can call for the impeachment or replacement of many of the positions in government.

As long as the U.S. remains a Democratic Republic there will never be a need to take up weapons against the Government as the power of governance remains in the hands of the people...they get the Government the majority either wants or that they deserve for not doing their due diligence in exercising their role in "for the people and by the people".
