It's just a matter of time before the tubes start begging sponsors to "work" together. I already received numerous affiliate requests from the same shit bag tubes that have been stealing my videos for years. Now that their ad sales are drying up they finally realize the very important bridge they burned.Comment

It's too bad you can't get a collective buyout, you'd be a millionaire many times over.
...well maybe not now that many have been so crippled.

We hit multiple payment methods ranging from Paypal to Visa and Mastercard.
The only system we have so far not been able to curtail is Webmoney, however that won't be an issue for ever.Comment

We've been knocking out resellers continuously. They cycle through them.looks like some resellers are glad to have biz with FL

File Lockers are being marginalised when it comes to payment processing, the further out the edges they get pushed, the more merchant accounts shut down, the more bank relationships that are severed the harder it get's for them.
This project has kept the pressure on the file lockers.Comment

any update on how things are in general?Comment

damn, looks like these sites are always popping up .
anyways you should have accepted that offer, coz you will never know when the rest of world/fuckers start supporting file lockers or something like that, its just about time.
then it will be just like tubes in adults....file lockers in mainstream.
just my random thoughts.
anyways good decision. i respect it.Comment

Most file lockers thrive soling on indexing someones entire portfolio of work.
Several site rips have been shown here as an example and the fact that fileserve.com, filesonic.com, and a few others folded there sites to only people can download what they uploaded is direct proof they knew what they were doing was illegal.
I honestly think it takes a level of intelligence that is a fair portion above average to understand the extent of the problem, based on the peoples' response to the problem and understanding.Comment

and btw how many ppl financially contribute to your campaign?
have you got some financing from big industry players?Comment

not enough.
However we appreciate the support of those who have chipped in.
yes.have you got some financing from big industry players?
We have had generous support from Manwin to date. (Fabian has already posted several times that they have supported us.)
We have also had generous support from others, however I am not sure who want's to be publicly acknowledged or not so I won't name names.
There are also other companies, such as CrakMedia, who promised support then reneged.Comment

The Stop File Lockers project began in late June 2012 and has run for 15 months.
In that time we have seen:
*hundreds of file locker and other piracy sites shut down,
*more than a (cumulative) thousand Paypal, Pazya, Moneybookers and other third party peer to peer and seller accounts shut down,
* Around 100 merchant accounts shut down and more than another sixty shut down by third party co-operation,
* Three third party billers lose the ability to accept Paypal.
* Hundreds of file locker resellers on eBay have their listings of file locker vouchers and memberships terminated,
*We have recast the way in which file lockers are viewed by many organisations,
We have also shut down blogs, debrid sites, image hosts, forums and link sharing sites.
Unfortunately at the end of September we finally ran out of funds and the resources just don't exist to keep this effort going any longer. In fact, we now face a deficit in the vicinity of $15,000.
Unless a source of funding is found, all operational aspects of the Stop File Lockers project and Copy Control will cease at midnight on Friday 4th October (AEST). This project has lived only through industry support.
At this time we will stop accepting notices to [email protected], all reporting and detection systems will be taken offline and no further mailed copies of infringements and DMCA notices will be received.
I will post a reminder on Friday morning to all parties sending copies of notices to us that the systems will go offline and from midnight on that day emails to [email protected] will bounce.
I would like to thank every person, company and organisation that has provided support (financial and otherwise) to the project. I would especially like to thank those people who worked and participated behind the scenes in our team room/project management environment, Podio.
To all those people and companies who sent us a steady stream of evidence, I would also like to thank you as without the data and information collected we would not have been able to achieve the results we did.Last edited by AdultKing; 10-01-2013, 04:26 AM.Comment

I don't plan on engaging in a running commentary on the merit or degree of success of the project going forward. I'll leave that to others.
My commitment to the project has never waned, however the harsh reality is that what we did cost money. Resources used included distributed cloud server time for detection and verification systems, legal costs, back end systems, international couriers for paper based evidence, technical services such as programming and scripting of tools, conference call facilities, travel and accommodation for meetings, video conferencing, lease on office space and so on.
Without ongoing financial support it's impossible for any one person to mount an operation as extensive as the one we were running. As it is we ran on the bare necessities to get the job done and not one single participant in the project (other than professional service providers) was paid. All the collaboration was done by volunteers including myself.
We had been in discussions to keep the project funded, however it became clear by September 30 that there was no guarantee of ongoing funding. Given the fact that we ran out of money at the end of September and without a commitment by any sponsor for ongoing funding, the project just has to shut down.
I hope that helps put the reasons for the closure in perspective.
Unless a sponsor steps forward the project will close according to the timetable previously posted. In the absence of such an occurrence I don't have anything else to add to the thread.Last edited by AdultKing; 10-02-2013, 03:11 AM.Comment

Don't close it man. Just slow it down and moth ball it a little - limp it along for a while.. guys like me who are major piracy victims know first hand how much good you are doing. Hate to see this project abandoned.I don't plan on engaging in a running commentary on the merit or degree of success of the project going forward. I'll leave that to others.
