:stop Sponsors: Big time affiliate cheater & he's good!

Caught an affiliate sending fake sales today, and he's one of the best hardest to spot ones i've had.

This guy is good, without giving away how he got caught, he knew how to work the NATS stats to make it look legit, first one in years that almost got paid by me.

Check your databases for the info above.

lol, never met him so I wouldn't know... I was thinking of requiring new affiliates to submit the pic ID's and docs proving it's them, as much as I hate when other places do it to me... luckily since I'm rev share most cheaters don't bother me like PPS programs.

I hate having to submit my EID before I've even made sales. I would never sign up for a program that required this as well.

Right, I would hate it too.

But it seems the only way to prevent affiliate cheaters from sending a ton of fake sales before they start charging back, if you wait till they start charging back your Chargeback ratio goes up and you risk losing your merch account never mind all the fees from them. It's a tough spot for sponsors.

I definitely see the merit from a sponsor's perspective. I don't have to worry about such things, so to me it's just a big pain in the ass and it makes me suspicious of the sponsor. It's like you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

True, but 99% of the time some of the data is the same in some places. Especially the paxum account

This is true. While using a different name, address, email and different payout method, it appears he's an affiliate of ours too because I was able to cross-check some of this info you posted + some info in some of his tracking codes on that thumblogger site of his.

Don't see any chargebacks from him, but then again, not many sales in the 2.5 years he's been an affiliate either. We don't offer PPS, so maybe that's why he didn't target us much.

We also scrutinize sales from affils who are not on our "trusted" list pretty closely and super-scrutinize every single CB to determine whether it was affiliate fraud or just good ol' regular fraud.

Save for a few incidents over the years, we've done pretty well combating any affiliate fraud. So being vigilant and watchful does help a lot. That being said, it only takes one fraudulent affiliate to really mess up a program and make a negative impact on your bottom line. CBs really really suck.

UPDATE - Contacted our affiliate with some similar info (similar thumblogger site and affiliate ID in tracking codes - "titchbits", which is also his VD Bucks ID with us)

He confirms that thumblogger site is indeed his, but says he has never sent fraud sales (he hasn't for us) and he is from Sweden, not Netherlands and that is not his name or email.

So, perhaps, this fraudulent persons imply listed titchbits' thumblogger URL as his own on his profile on your program?

Can you see the referring URL for those fraudulent sales? Do they actually come from that thumblogger URL or from somewhere else?

*can contact me via email if you don't wanna discuss it here - support at vdbucks dot com
